  1. I just bolted up a socket to my engine through one of the mounting point to rest on the subframe. During gearbox removal / refit I put a trolley jack under the engine. Like this: My engine never fell out.
  2. Just make one out of plate for the cam. e.g. http://burnerscars.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/how-to-make-porsche-ims-camshaft.html Use an 8mm drill bit to lock the crank
  3. I notice that 997.1 forked control arms have a different part number to 996. However they look exactly the same in pictures. I know some people have run 996 GT3 lower control arms on 997 GT3 cars etc. I can get new 997.1 arms for 50% the price of 996 arms. Would 997.1 C2 arms fit a 996 C2? i.e. are they the same dimensions?
  4. I had this 120k miles, steering would "knock" but only when the car was hot. Especially bad after a track day. I too replaced almost everything in the front suspension, everything except the steering rods (track / tie rods)...... Seems when the steering fluid and rack got hot, the worn inner steering arm balljoints (under the rack boots) must expand a little and allow some play. Fairly easy to do and about £120 for TRW parts for both sides including new outer track rod end ball joints.
