  1. Rick, I bought an extended warranty through warranties 4 wheels for our cayenne S when we bought it last year. I have used it once on a drive shaft issue and they covered everything with no problem. so, so far so good. they seemed to have pretty good prices on their warranties with good coverage. Mark
  2. I had some issues with my cab top before and took it to my shop to have them look at it. There theory(and they say it has worked on many cars) is that the smart top gets in the way of the cab top from calibrating itself every so often. So they had me take out the smart top and operate it for afew day without the smart top unit in for a few days and then i put it back in. it operated normal after that, and has done so ever since. my issue with the top is that it would sometimes not open or close at all, but if i waited a bit of time it would work normal. hope that works.
  3. thanks loren. the 04 manual is really messed up with regards to the lights.
  4. looking for type and rating for rear tail light bulb. My 2004 owners manual does not show the type and rating for this bulb. just trying to save form pulling out he other side if I don't have to . Also the diagram in the manual seems to be incorrect. it shows the brake light where the tail light is, the turn signal whre the reverse light is, etc.. thanks
  5. how is it changing the drive belt? is it a DIY like the 996? thanks
  6. I did the plastic window on my cab. last year and I believe the charge was $350. Just find any auto interior or convertible top place in your area in the phone book and give them a call. I had many places that priced it out from $250- 800. so check around. Another option is chekc out the cab. top installers on the GAHH website and see who does there installs. The shop that did mine, put in a new plastic window and double stitched it along with the glue.
  7. try this: http://www.cb-racing.com/boxster_AC.html It tells you how to do what you want at the top of the page
  8. go to the navteq page and enter in your location and car and it will tell you the correct version of the map. probably 2004 as porsche and navteq do not work well together to update them. go to this page and "change the store" to your country and it should work. Navtek- Us
  9. Porsche's recommended tool (commercially available) and how to use it... thanks Loren. Can you get these at sunset or is there another place?
  10. i changed my spark plugs a few months ago, and had a difficult time trying to pull the tubes out. and gave up. should they come out pretty easy? and i even tried using a the head of a screwdriver like above, but could not get them out. Can you usually pull them out with your fingers? thanks.
  11. Does anyone know the size of the screw at eh front of the seat to tilt it back and access the battery? thanks
  12. does anyone know where the location of the TPMS computer? I am getting a workshop message from it and am wondering if it is in a spot you can access. thanks
  13. do it yourself using the checklist. i just did it a few months ago, and it can all be done for less than $300. spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change, brake fluid change, etc...
  14. thanks Alex. I guess I was confused as no light came on at either side in the parking light position (tail lights do come on), and I do not have any warnings on the veh. info page. any way to check the control units, or is that a take to shop issue?
  15. Thanks for you response Alex, but I am still confused (It doesn't take much sometimes!) but what would turn the parking light on (the first turn of the light switch?) , and what is lower corner-sensitive light? Also, no warnings in the display. I have tried moving the switch to all settings and cannot get the light to come on, on either side. thanks Mark
  16. yep, that is it, the one you have circled above. what the heck does that bulb do?
  17. Both of the Side light bulbs on our 04 cayenne s are out, and am wondering what exactly these lights do? They are labeled "I" in the 2004 owners manual under the bi-xenon lights. and it is just below and to the outside of the main xenon lamp bulb. What turns them on and what type of bulb is it? It looks pretty easy to replace just want to get the correct bulb. thanks!
  18. anyone know where the comfort control unit is and can it be replaced by an owner? My door unlock settings are changing as above with the remotes and the dealer is quoting us $850 to change the unit!!! thanks
  19. thanks Formula! I think we are all just enjoying our cars here and appreciate any help that anyone else can offer. It seems like if one of us has an issue, that someone has already gone through the same problem, so it is nice to not be "ridden" on this site when you have a simple problem. Thanks again
  20. Stupid me, I figured it out! I guess I must have moved the steering wheel a little bit, as it was locked and thus(!!!) no key movement. It is amazing how it moves when the steering wheel is not locked! But a big thank you to Loren for his DIY on the ignition switch replacement!!! capt601
  21. Was having a little difficult when inserting key, so I planned an ignition switch change. Just installed it tonight, and cannot turn key at all! put back in old one and same thing. any thoughts on what to do next? thanks capt601
  22. just wondering if you had heard from anyone regarding the schnell exhaust. It is hard to find someone with knowledge of it. thanks capt601
  23. Earlier this summer I put in the Kenwood DDX-6019 and have no regrets. The ease of use has been great and sound quality awesome. It has one of the biggest screens in use - 6.95". I also put in the focals and the whole system sound great now. The extra box for the nav is not really a problem and to update it you just download from Garmin's website the updates on to a SD card and simply insert it and the update is done. capt601
  24. the two rear cables are basically just pulled off. It is like a ball and socket joint. It does take some pressure to separate the two pieces, but it is not too bad. very easy to push the two parts back together once you are done. capt601
