  1. As Dave said 305's will be OK. I'm assuming you have the narrowbody verstion of the Turbo wheels - they will have the correct rear offsets.
  2. 1) 305's will fit so the dealer was wrong there. 2) On the C2S, 305's come with the Carerra Sport wheels, 295's come with the Turbo wheels so your dealer was correct there. The rear wheels on the 997 Turbo have a different offset than the Turbo wheels offered as options on the narrowbody C2's - not that it makes a difference on the size of the tire since the rim widths are the same. 997TT OEM rear wheel 305 997 narrowbody (c2) Turbo rear wheel option 295 997 widebody (C4) Turbo rear wheel option 305 BTW - the configurator is not always correct.
  3. I spend time on this board plus 3 others and have done so for the last 18 months - not many, if any, "catastropic" failures have been reported on 997's. Maybe the failures don't get reproted but I would bet if there was a problem with the 997's we would have heard about it. I agree you should do your own due diligence but I wouldn't be worried about this.
  4. I'm sure you already thought of this...Homelink in the 997 is the only instance of Homelink that I know of that has to have the ignition turned on to work.
  5. If the tinter knows what he's doing, he just uses a screwdriver in the door latch to set the windows all the way up. The quarter inch down won't affect your tint. Just make sure he resets the latch before he closes the doors - again good installers know all this - same with Vettes, 350Z's etc.
  6. I think the initial start sound is typical of most if not all 997's. My 2005 997S makes the same sound when I first start it up in the morning. It's most likely amplified some since it's in the garage. The CATS are covered under the Federal Emssions Warranty which is greater than the 4yrs/50k mile USA new car warrany. Unless you fail an emissions test I'd be surprised if PCNA is inclined to consider your complaint. I could be wrong. Let us know if you bring it up before your local Porsche dealer. Good Luck! Also, he said he's not in the US so I don't think the extended emissions warratny is going to help him.
  7. The GT3 wheel is for a "narrowbody" so you'll need spacers on the rear - probably 17mm. You would be better off getting the GT3RS wheels - they have the "widebody" offset and fit the TT just like the OEM wheels.

  9. Greetings: I have a 2006 C2S... 2843 miles. When I first purchased the vehicle I had a hesitation issue or more like " Cugging " on 2 occasions. I was told this is most likely when the fuel is at 1/4 tank. I now always keep my tank full and have not had the problem since. I also use an octane boost once in a while, maybe every 3rd or 4th tank. Does that help, that's up to debate. However by keeping my tank on the full side I have not experienced any " Chugging " . Chromedome, North County San Diego Chugging is probably a better description. It seems strange to me that the same problem has happened to multiple people and a reason/solution has not been determined by Porsche. We can't all be crazy. I'm not really sure what level my gas tank was at when it happended but I'll keep an eye on that (although for a car of this level of engineering, I would think Porsche would have a better solution than "don't let the tank get below 1/4". Love the car when its running strong. The only days it sits in the garage are when the snow is falling hard here in CT! Just a little frustrated with this issue. Thanks for the response. Does it happen in Sport mode? I've found "chugging" happens to me sometimes when in Sport mode - maybe the throtle remapping is not working correctly.

A friend bought a new Boxster S (987) and had it sent to Ruf in Dallas for a Carrera S engine swap with the powerkit, some suspension tweaking, Ruf wheels, etc. I think there was an article about it several months back in Excellence. He didn't have anything negative to say about the experience, and owning one of those things definitely puts you into a special crowd. It wasn't cheap. I drove it and observed it was like driving 80% of a Carrera GT for 20% of the price. A very fast, well behaved daily driver that will blow away just about anything on the road, exotic or not. If you figure Ruf has a lot more experience with Carreras than Boxsters, you can draw your own conclusion about satisfaction. Geoff, Thanks so much for your reply. I am actually going for it, my car ships next week to Dallas....and I am pretty excited. I am also doing some suspesion upgrades too, so rounding things out to about $30K total. As far as the "look" of my car, it is going to stick with its 19" Classics all the way around, and no body kit upgrades either...I want 'er to look stock. I will post here again when I get it back. You will not be disappointed - they guys in Dallas are the best and the Ruf conversion kit "rocks".
  11. www.mats.com - Weathertech driver's side great fit - 100% coverage, passenger side fits lengthwise but left foot area doesn't have 100% coverage.

  13. The 5mm spacers offered by Porsche DO have longer wheels bolts as part of the kit- I wouldn't receommend using a shorter bolt - why take a chance?
  14. It's bizarre that the 996 and 997 are different but on the 997 coupes (owner's manual page 28) "One touch operation for closing the passenger's window is only available once the window is approximately half-way closed." Go figure.
  15. I believe the Carrera windows (997) are one touch down both sides and one touch up driver's side only. Paasenger side is only one touch up after the window reaches its midpoint - don't know why since the Cayman has one touch up both sides.   16. I have an 06 997 C4S - this was not part of my tool kit. I bought two from Sunset Imports - less than $10 each. Two are recommended for PCCB equiped cars. I use one for changing my wheels (non-PCCB) - primary reason to use is to keep from banging wheel agains the caliper.
  17. I use a Harley Davidson filter wrench on my bike (FXSTB) and the 997 - it's a 76-14

  19. I checked mine again. I forgot they were from FVD. Only one hole and they were supplied with a longer screw (to take into account the increased 5mm thickness) plus the longer lug bolts. As the Carnewal pic shows, the Porsche spacer does have two holes plus longer screws...and I've seen many of these narrow spacers from other manufacturers without any screws - they just mount over the hub and with the wheel and lug bolts they're not going anywhere.
  20. What size spacers and where did you get them? If they are the Porsche 5mm spacers, there is only one small screw to remove and then replace on the spacer. Many use 5mm, 6mm and maybe larger without the single mounting screw. Need more info to help you. Spacers are the same than coochas, Porsche kit 5mm spacer and longer bolts. Interesting - don't know what to tell you now. My Porsche 5mm spacers only had one screw. The 6mm and 7mm spacers I have from another supplier don't have any screws. Google fvd and check out their website -their picture of the 5mm spacer only shows one hole for a screw. Good luck.

  22. Price increase, TPMS standard, change in color options and pricing, different wheel option, not much else. If you check some of the other boards you will find more detail. In fact I think both the 06 and 07 ordering guide are available on this board so you could compare these. Good luck.
