  1. I doubt it has anything to do with the change of pads/discs. I think it is just as the tester says, something wrong with your front shock absorber or its module. Just my opinion
  2. Yes I see the arrow now. Very easy actually... Sorry to have bothered for that
  3. I would appreciate your help.... I am having serious rattle from both rear windows. I am 100% sure the rattle is coming from the windows because when a apply some pressure with my hand the noise disappears. I can feel the windows have a little play which I understand is normal, but may be I have to retighten the securing bolts just a little bit and see how it goes. Anyone knows how to get to these bolts ? Do I have to remove the B pillar ??? I hope not ... Anyone had this problem before??? What is the fix?? I really hate that noise, because otherwise the car feels extremely solid and
  4. That's what I thought, so I don't have an answer as to why I can't get the 1 bar max boost and can't get it into overboost at all. thanks Probably obvious, but wanted to make sure you knew to get the chrono to get overboost, you have to quickly push the accelerator all the way to the floor and you will see a small upward arrow to the right of the boost gauge. That is how you can tell the the overboost is enabled (for 10 seconds). Maybe already knew that, just making sure. DC Arrow ????? What arrow ? Every time you enable "sport" you get an arrow on the boost level indicator???

  6. I have done 200km so far. Consumption 21lL/100km 100oct.
  7. Yes I know, reverting shortly with pics. BTW is that a 40 years Anniversary you have ??? Mine was the 0568/1963 number
  8. What do you think? Is it as fast as I indicated? Big difference from what you had eh? Can you stop grinning when the turbos are pumping? :) Congrats and enjoy....Oh and be careful! DC Yes mate, very very fast. The numbers that are indicated in the speedo in very short intervals of full throttle are just unbelievable. I am still getting used to the tiptronic (all my previous cars were manual). I want to keep this car forever. By the way, I feel so reassured having this bulletproof, long tested, race breed engine with DRY SUMP lubrication in there. I like to press my cars hard
  9. The last couple of days, I am not getting enough sleep. Maybe because this 997TT in my garage is connecting to my brain via an unidentified secret method Porsche has built in this car. My 40th Anniversary 996 is gone, and a 997TT MY2008 has taken its place.

  11. Your indicator displays psi. For sure. 1 bar = 14.5 psi Regsrds
  12. Thanks for your reply. I have checked the car by my tech, and he suggested that I should go for it. The car has 29,000km and serviced regularly. I have noticed that from brake disks rotor have around 3mm - 4mm wear, and the rear 2-3mm wear. Is it too much for 29,000km or not? By the way, can you chip the car and keep the stock exhaust ? Can you gain 80hp with chip alone and stock exhaust?? Regards
  13. Hi all, I am very close to switch my very good 40th Anniversary 996 with a MY 997 Turbo Tip and i would appreciate some technical info. How much boost should the display indicate at full throttle at 3k, 4k, 5k, 6k rpm??? I understand that boost pressure declines as the rpm rise, but what level of boost should I expect to see at 5k with SC on /off respectively??? I'm planning a test drive tomorrow, and I guess if correct boost levels can be achieved means that turbos/ intercoolers/ hoses/ DV are all in good order. BTW I ve been told there is no comparison in straight line performance
  14. Hi Jay, thanks for the quick reply. Being a previous owner of 40 Anniversary model you comments are valuable. You have just reconfirmed my initial assessment, that in terms of acceleration and straight line performance both cars are alike. I ve always thought that any new car should be noticeable more powerful than the old one.... Update interior design and some additional electronic aids and gadgets are always welcome, but not enough. A new car MUST be feel instantly more powerful than the one it replaces... It should better wait to find a 997.1 with X51 power kit or wait for the 99
  15. Hi everybody, I would very much appreciate your thoughts and recommendations... I own a 996 2004 model 40 years anniversary model which as you know comes with the x51 power kit fitted as standard. How does my car compare with a 997.1 Carrera S manual in terms of straight line performance ??? I have enjoyed my car for the last 5 years, and i thinking of switching to 997.1 which has a much improved interior and much better handling than the 996. Thank you Mat
  16. There are some fluctuations on the reading when engine running steadily below 3,000rpm (assuming operating temp is reached) but I doubt the fluctuation is 0.5 bar, I would say roughly 0.2 bar max. At engine speeds 3,000 rpm and above the reading in 5 bar steady.
  17. I experience the same problem. The occurances are random and have not had any for the last month or so. First step is to replcace the sender unit. I have purchased one myself but haven't had the patience to install it yet :) You need a 19mm wrench , but there is simply not enough space in there to work and apply force to loose the old sender.... I must say this is one of those problems that you can not duplicate and you can not know exaclty what's wrong (the sender unit, the cluster, or the wiring...) The only method is the trial and error... Check the wirring connections on the senso
  18. hi Loren it is as per the attached (item 1) thnks
  19. Hi, which is the p/n for a black horseshoe fitted to the latest carreras ? Specifically for the 40th Annivarsary carrera (2004) Regards
  20. I really don't know. The pressure sensor has two outputs - one for the actual pressure reading for the gauge, and one for the warning light. Perhaps the one for the warning light is failing during higher speed cornering, giving you the "indicator failure" message, whilst the computer knows the actual oil pressure is OK. Like I say, the sensor is a relatively inexpensive item, and would be my first choice of where to start. The alternative would be to start checking the continuity of wiring, or it might be a fault in the instrument cluster, but these would be a nightmare. Your mess
  21. So far I have excluded the possibility to be an actual lubrication problem. May be I am wrong... If there was an actual lubrication problem, and during hard cornering the actual oil pressure drops to zero, then I suppose "low oil pressure" signal would appear instead of "indicator Failure". Am I correct assuming that?
  22. Not yet. How can I determine that sensor is faulty and not anything else ? i.e. instrument cluster By the way any guidance on how to change the sensor ? Is it a diy job ? What really confuses me is the fact the problem never occures under normal driving conditions. It only happens during hard cornering.
  23. Have traced the sensor with the help of the photos+drawings and re-tighten the two cables attached to it (although they didn't seem loose...). Took the car for a quick spin and experienced the same problem when exiting hard from a corner... INDICATOR FAILURE on the obc and oil pressure drops to zero for a second or two. Any Ideas????????? Thanks
  24. I was wondering, is it possible to fit the multi function steering wheel of 997 to a 996 (2004) model, and take advantage of convenient butons on the wheel???
  25. Thank you all for the info + pics. I will check if there is anything loose in there...
