  1. That does not sound good. Very sorry. Do NOT start the car again. Keep us posted. Glad you have the CPO.
  2. White, what is the danger if you overfill the car slightly?? Define slightly? Over is over. Over is bad. Main issue is oil foaming and aeration. Becauce it gets beat & whipped.
  3. Well, let's face it, a GT3 is not a quiet car, and not meant to be. Hope you get this figured out, if in fact something is not 100% right as it should be.
  4. That's normal. As was your 05 911. Porsche's spec is something like 1 litre in 1,000 kilometers. Being 3 bars down is about 1 quart. Each bar is about 350 ml. Always better to be 1 bar "low" vs overfilled. If ever overfilled (not a good thing), just drop your oil filter to remove a couple hundred ml's. The black film you are finding is more likely road dirt and brake dust. Not spent oil. But the DFI engine (in your 2009) will burn a little dirtier than your 2005 did.
  5. I have a 1/2" drive Craftsman. I only use it a couple times per year for "wheels-off" car detailing. Works great. I always store it properly in its case, without any tension on the mechanism (O). Never leaves my garage area. I paid about $120 for it 3 years ago.
  6. I've lusted over them for a couple years now. I may do it this time for the new 991. They do look great. Torque spec on the 991 series is now 118 ft.lbs. Porsche bumped it up from 96 ft.lbs. I think because of the 20 inch rims.
  7. A 2014 C2S Cab, white/grey/black, PowerKit, LED's, PSE, Manual Transmission, Sport Techno rims, full leather, model delete designation, some interior stuff (no carbon fiber). No PDCC nor Burmester, no PDK. Should have it by late March. I placed a deposit on build allocation back on Sept. 3rd. I'll do a few things when it arrives at dealership (clear corners up front, Bumperplug rear reflector covers in body match white paint, front sport spoiler lip, and ceramic powercoat (black) exhaust tips). Tips will be sent out to a powercoater in Detroit. About a week turn-around time.
  8. Really? Are you sure? Is this a Turbo LED option thingy, or for all the new 2014 991's? I have LED's in my January 2014 build, and would love them to be black. But I thought this "black" option was only available with the standard xenon lights. Let me know. Thanks!!
  9. I did NOT order this option for my (Jan. 2014 allocation build) custom C2S Cab order. Besides this, and the Burmester audio system, I selected just about all the other other major options, including the $18K PowerKit option. I just figured the new 991 chassis was already going to be so much better than what I was used to (993 Turbo on PSS9's and a 987S) that I really didn't need it, and I needed to stop checking boxes on my order, since I was already at $149K. I do not track or auto cross my cars. That might change your requirements, if you do. I hear great things about the PDCC from several members over on Rennlist. PDCC is also suppose to help extend the wear life on tires (maybe one of the biggest unspoken advantages of the system) but I have no regrets or buyers remorse. Maybe another way to go, on a 991 or 991S (not sure about the Turbo, if this is offered) is select the Sport Suspension (SPASM- Sport Porsche Active Suspension Management). This lowers the car another 10mm, and is a stiffer suspension set-up. Look into that, too.
  10. I am 6'2" and you will find the Cayman 987 to offer slightly more leg room than the 996/986 series. If your are skilled enough to work on a 911, you should be right at home with the 987C.
  11. No. But very good. No. And never will. 5W40 or even 5W50 in Florida.
  12. Are you recycling the air? This will cause the interior to fog up.
  13. Good point. Valid point, too. Here's where I see the 991 making the biggest impact on the 997 market & pricing. The 991 is very-very expensive, now. Crazy expensive. Not hard to be in the $140's with a few options. So, I think current 997 owners will stay in their cars longer, making less available in the used car market, keeping prices stronger.
  14. Private party or dealership? Your estimate seems reasonible. Many Porsches going to sleep in the coming days not to be seen again until Spring. Sellers might be more motivated now. In the new driving season, prices could go up a little as demand increases.
  15. The 20's will be just fine on the street with good rubber and proper road force balancing. All the new 991's are now coming standard with 20" wheels.
  16. Easy, get a second set of dedicated track tires mounted on a set of 19 inch wheels.
  17. My understanding it that the Bilsteins (like PSS10's) have built in springs. Or go the ROW M030 route for about $1,150 and get all new sways, springs, bushings, and struts, vs the $900ish for just struts from TR.
  18. Most of the detailing experts will tell you that the only time you ned to apply pressure and "elbow grease" on your car is when you are polishing and doing paint correction. If you are applying that much effort and pressure, you are using the wrong product, tool and technique.
  19. Off goes your wax too. Just be aware of that in your final process and preparation. You use wax on your wheels? I don't/. Yes. RejeX wax with the Armor All Wheel Protectant as topper. Than all you need to clean your wheels is warm soapy water and no expensive and potentially harmful cleaners.
