  1. Off goes your wax too. Just be aware of that in your final process and preparation.
  2. Do you have a code reader. Any codes? How's your MAF sensor.
  3. Speed, you've got to keep the leather conditioned. I really like using Zaino Z10 for this. And as for long term storage, I use several pounds of disiccant in the cabin, when my cars are stored away for winter hibernation. Just another idea to ponder.
  4. Jimmy, why do you need to "restore" the leather? What do you plan to do? Not knowing your issues and or plans, I'd suggest trying a simpler plan first: 1) A good cleaning with Lexol Leather Cleaner (orange bottle) diluted 2) Use a high quality leather cleaning brush (see picture) Swiss brush. 3) A good quality leather conditioner after the leather has dried a day or so. I really like Zaino Z10. As a side note, you can ask JoAnne at www.colorplus.com for her recommendation on the leather code. She sells Porsche leather dyes, and also has a great product to restore leather and clean and such. Good luck!
  5. OK, but, this make no sense. If the are "old and worn" how can they still be "good"? How old are the front tires? If more than 4-5 years old, regardless of mileage and wear pattern, they are hard, and should replaced with matching tires to your rear.
  6. I (we) don't know all the details, but I have been a Porsche enthusiast for over 9 years now, and this is the first time I can remember someone speaking out in a negative fashion about Leatherique. Whatever.
  7. I thought back in 2005 Porsche was calling this color leather on the 987 "Terracotta"??
  8. Not a fan of clear bra, but I love a bikini cut. Just don't tailgate cars, stay away from trucks, dump trucks, landscape trucks and trucks without mud flaps.
  9. Talk to JoAnne at www.colorplus.com. You might be able to save your current leather.
  10. I recently bought an updated .04 coolant cap from Sunset. To my surprise, it was black. Regards, Maurice. Maurice, those are the ones for the 918 Spyder, so it should add 5 but dyno to your car! Stay thirsty my friend!:)
  11. For many years I ran Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50 in my 993 Turbo. Blackstone UOA's were excellent. Yes, I know, this is a motorcycle oil. The other top rated aircooled Porsche oils are Brad Penn 20W50 and Motul (but I forget the number). Another to consider would be Joe Gibbs DT50.
  12. I bought from Sunset 2 years ago. Maybe pricing has gone up that much in 2 years. I buy from Phil Coy. Gret guy & service.
  13. Buy an OE Porsche water pump from Sunset and ask for your Renntech discount. Replace the gaskets too. This is a good time to do the thermostat and serpt belt too. Make sure your blue cap is the updated version ending in part # "04".
  14. Good work. Very smart to use the OEM 75W90 trans fluid. And it's only about $26/quart.
  15. A few years ago I bought two used hockey pucks from Play It Again Sports for about $1.50. This was before our Blackhawks won 2 Stanley Cups! Now they are worth over $3. LOL!! They work great!
  16. Sure, as expected. In a healthy motor, you see a steady decline in wear metals for well over 10,000 miles.
  17. Do it for another 1,000 miles. But, if it were my Porsche, I'd change the oil now, and send a sample to Blackstone, and start the data collection process. I've always done it this way. None of my Porsche have even consumed oil between oil changes (5-8,000 miles between changes, depending on the model).
  18. All normal. You just might need to retrain your windows. Automatic up & down. This is why you use a battery maintainer. You can make an OEM battery last 8 years. Good job!
  19. I agree. And it is most likely linked to your driving style. Short distance to the office. Also keep in mind, if you went on a long drive, and burnt off the fuel dilution from the oil, your oil level will drop a little. And you don't want to drop below the min level. So keep an eye on that too.
  20. I am being serious. I do Blackstone UOA's for my engine oil and trans gear lube. One report give us very little, but over a few years, you can really start to see trends and feedback.
  21. Call Phil Coy (503-641-8600) at the Sunset Porsche parts department, and ask him. Great guy!!
