  1. Sorry about your accident. Other driver should obviously be at fault. Was police report filed? Was the other driver ticketed? Everything regarding your insurance claim is negotiable. Present them facts, comps, and receipts for all mods and recent maintenance. Don't accept first offer or 3rd offer, stay vigilant, and negotiate until you're satisfied. I hope no injuries. Oh, and don't try starting the motor anymore, until done so by a qualified Porsche shop. If the frame is damaged, it will be salvaged for sure, since the repairs become increasingly more expensive in ratio to the car's value. In light of the fact that the airbags blew, this is also a very strong indication the will be totaled too, again for the same reasons.......repair costs. Once the car has been determined to be a total loss, your case will be assigned to a different department within your insurance company. Total losses are typically handled by a dedicated staff. They will low-ball you. Again, negotiate with facts and a cool calm demeanor. Have comps ready. Have all your receipts ready. Have fair market prices and photos of your mods and upgrades. Start shopping for your next 911 and make lemonade.
  2. This is common on the n/a 993. Not as common for the 993 Turbo, but it does happen. You should post this same question over on Rennlist. Many experienced owners over there. Side note, a great oil for your car is Mobil V-Twin 20W50.
  3. Welcome Great car. Money in the bank, too. Prices keep going up. I had a 1997 993 Turbo. Bought in 2009 with 32,000 miles and sold it with 72,000 in 2013. Didn't cost me a dime for 40,000 miles.
  4. That's certainly enough mileage for the prior owner to have worn out the clutch. When the gearbox is down, maybe replace the RMS as preventive maintenance. An inexpensive part. A 6-speed OE Porsche clutch kit is about $570 (pres plate, discs, and release bearing). Wonder if it could be the clutch master cylinder? About $140 part.
  5. The two vents serve different purposes on a Boxster, one is an air intake, the other is an engine compartment heat vent with a fan in it that blows air out when the engine bay reaches certain temps. I don't think this is 100% correct. The driver's side vent is the engine air intake, yes. But the passenger's side vent pulls cool air INTO the engine compartment, not "blows air out". This fan kicks on when the engine compartment reaches a specific temp.
  6. Mileage?? When was the last time you had your brake fluid flushed? This is a shared fluid system with the 987's clutch fluid. FYI. Your clutch just might be on the way out. Clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Hopefully your flywheel is OK.
  7. That seems high. Should be on about the "8" in "180". Check your coolant cap (very tight, new, blue, part number ending in "04") and reservoir level. Maybe it needs to burp, and top-off. Make sure air intakes in front bumper are clean. And the front radiators. Do fans kick on? How old is water pump? How old is serpentine belt?
  8. Really? They do suck sometimes!:) Maybe better finding an indy shop in your area. So if dealership ABC has the best price....but XYZ is more convenient to your home/office......they won't match the ABC price to win your business?
  9. How many dealerships in your area? Call them all, and get a price and an exact understanding of what's included. Then you can compare and price shop. Don't be afraid to negotiate the price.
  10. I use this plug too. I always instruct the dealership to only torque to 19 ft.lbs. They claim 19 barely seats the crush washer. Any comments? Thanks.
  11. A Porsche OE part or OEM? Standard version of the AOS or motorsport version? I know the 997 has a motorsport version, not sure about the 996.
  12. Air temp sensor is in the passenger side air intake area of the front bumper, I'm pretty sure.
  13. Could still be the water pump. Only replace with an OE Porsche pump.
  14. When was your 60,000 mile (or 6 year) serpentine belt service done? Check your pulleys too.
  15. All maintenance up to date? Stuff like; plugs, filters, serpt belt, water pump? Any CEL's?
  16. They are not. The 987 (2005) is a slightly bigger cabin than a 986 (2004). David MacNeil of WeatherTech is very-very generous to our local PCA. Great guy. Amazing Porsche (+40 cars) collection.

    My new GT3

Wow! Awesome. How Does Voodoo Blue compare to Riviera Blue or Mexico Blue in real life? Please take good care of it. I would like to buy it someday. Enjoy!
  18. Very nice. The seat belts are an easy swap. Your dealership can do this now problems. The belts are about $700 per set (for front and back). Plus labor. They are available in red, yellow, and silver. I have the silver belts in my 991 C2S X51. They are very nice. The LED lights are NOT plug & play. I also have these, and they are great. I got them because I wanted the halo DRL's. And the coolness factor.:) Your lights look great, because they are black (right?) and work great with your white car. The Bi-xenons are awesome. The LEDs are not much (if any) better. PDLS is great, if you have that option (mainly the dynamic cornering). Enjoy your new car. Did yours require the engine swap?
  19. Find an indy shop that does Porsche. Should be about an hour labor. Under $200.
  20. Save your money. Put the +$4,000 in your sock drawer for unscheduled maintenance only. You'll come out ahead. Usually.
