  1. Good idea! You don't need the switch. I think the switch is mandated in the USA for noise abaitement issues.
  2. SWS1, I am betting dollars-to-donuts that you will have that switch in the "load" mode at all times! Enjoy. :D
  3. Always plugged-in if not planning to drive the car for more than 3-4 days. All through winter hybernation too.
  4. Treat your leather with the Soffener product from www.colorplus.com.
  5. I agree with Gundo. Have them install the PSE without the electronics. You will want the PSE in 'sport' mode (loud) all the time. It is not that loud. Sounds great. No resonance at all. I have the PSE on my 987S...and love it...and there are no electronics hooked-up to my Sport Chrono.
  6. I plug mine in if I know I will not be driving the car for a few (more than 3-4) days. I store my car for the winter (late October through late March) and it stays plug in this entire time.
  7. Yes, and order a Venti, no-whip, extra hot, skim, mocha frappachino, double cup & a sleeve with you nitrogen fill.
  8. Yes, very commom now, and hotly debated. I run nitrogen in my tires, and like it for 3 reasons: 1) The nitrogen air is very dry, and I store my car for the 5 months of Chicago winter. 2) Less/no leakage during the 5 months of storage 3) More stable tire pressures during driving season, since nitrogen is less influenced by air temp changes Lot of the info on nitrogen is incorrect. All gases behave according to the ideal gas law, and the amount of expansion with change in temperature is almost identical among common gases. Air is about 78% nitrogen, so using 100% nitrogen would give you very little benefit in any case. The big advantage to commercial nitrogen is that it can be very dry. The water vapor in ambient air is a significant contributor to thermal expansion, and air compressors often make it worse if they're not properly maintained. However, you can achieve the same thing by using dry air. Also, the idea that nitorgen doesn't leak out as much is not true, so a "lifetime" fill is a crock of sh*t. I respectfully disagree, just a little. Nitrogen is a larger molecule, so it will not "leak out" as quickly within the matrix of the rubber. As for the "lifetime" fill, I think this refers to the fact that they will give top-offs, free, for the lifetime of the tire. At least this is they way I read into it.
  9. How about a high quality contact cement? Apply to both sides, let dry the required amount of time, and then press together. Just a thought. I don't know for sure. Have you checked the PCA Tech Web site for advice?

  11. I agree with Fastboydave. And if you park in the garage for 1-2 days, fine, go top down....but say 4-5 days...not a good choice. Then again, owners with hardtop have the top folded for months.
  12. If 40 PSI gives you great handeling and confiedence, than I would think that is your answer.
  13. Kidsmurf, good news! Invest in a good digital pressure gauge, if you don'y have one already. About $12 at the auto parts store. Well worth it and more accurate.
  14. What about things like: 1) Ragg Topp on the convertible for protection and water beading 2) A good wax job! I highly recommend the entire Zaino product line- www.zainobros.com 3) Condition all the leather with the Soffener product from www.colorplus.com
  15. Well, driving for 5 miles on a flat tire could have been your problem. Check your tire pressures. They might be over-inflated. I think you 996 guys run about 37-40 PSI.
  16. Did you replace with the same exact tire? How many miles are on the other tire on the same axel? Is the new tire defective (out of round)? Is it balanced properly? Road forced balanced? How far did you drive on the flat tire? Did you bend the rim?
  17. Emile_s, no problem. Fair question. Sorry if what I said came out wrong. If your income is say $200K you still have to pay income tax (approx. 35%), state taxes (approx 6%), other government taxes (approx 3%), and then the sales tax on the actual purchase (approx. 9%). $200-$70-$12-6=$112 net income $115K Porsche plus a 9% sales tax=$125,350 So, you need to actually earn more than $200!!
  18. Did you buy this car new? Could be a theft recovery device like LoJack??
  19. I don't think there is a difference between the US and Europe spec for HP. The 05/06 Boxster S has 280 HP. I would expect at least a 15% drop in HP to the wheels if measured on a dyno.
  20. I bought mine at Wal-Mart. Cost about $7.00. Fits great. I stowe it under the drivers seat (my seat is never moved).
  21. Well, here in the good'ol USA, in order to buy a nice Turbo Cayenne that sells for about $110,000 a person needs to earn about $200,000 in income to make that purchase. So, I don't see how this is really much different than Emile_s situation in the great country of Sweden. Just a thought to consider.
