    Next time get the price prior to them doing the work, and then you might not be as surprised, can shop around for a better dealer, or negotiate a better price with the Service Writer.

    Hi Loren: Will you and Tool Pants still report back after this has been done in your dealership? The link above from Tool Pants is encouraging, but not a real confidence booster. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually done it and a "how to" so a dealership in my area can be instructed how as well. Thanks.

    Why don't you purchase one of the hand held held items? Consumer Reports just did a review. They are about $800. Just a thought.

    Thanks Loren and Tool Pants. This would be great! I think this would make the car a little safer too. Especially for lane changes. Loren, if the car could be re-programmed to blink the side marker, wouldn't the bulb need to be changed to a dual filament?

    And how much is "too much" then? Overfilling is overfilling. This is not good for the car/engine. There are all kinds of potential issues....oil foaming, fouling your plugs, messing-up your MAF sensor(s). Really? Engine oil fouling your plugs and messing up your MAF sensor? Sounds like you got a much bigger problem than just oil overfill. I would've thought problems would be related to the flow of oil if it's grossly overfilled. Hey dude, go ahead and overfill if you want. It's your car & engine. Oh, one more note, the overfill will mess up your cats. too!

    Here you go, I hope this helps: The engine oil filling capacity for the Boxster has been increased as follows: Oil change without filter - 8.5 liters (9 quarts), formerly 7.75 liters Oil change with filter - 8.75 liters (9.25 quarts), formerly 8.25 liters Effective immediately, the new filling capacities should be used on all Boxsters, retroactively, until further notice. Please correct your Technical Manual accordingly. Note: A draining time of 20 minutes is required to attain the proper oil level. Always confirm oil level by checking the dipstick.

    I did this to my car...within days of picking it up from the dealer. Very easy to do...and looks great. All it takes is a little patience and rubbing with the denatured alcohol. My only added advice is to make sure you cover your working area real well. You don't want to get any of the alcohol and sticker mixture on your leather or trim. When you are done. wipe off the visor with a good quality vinyl conditioner/cleaner. Oh yea, this adds about 5 HP to the car too!! :P

    Do the battery disconnect. Make sure you have your radio code (if needed).

    Maybe this is an issue with your MAF. Also, do you ever run a high-quality fuel injector cleaner? One with Techron? Maybe you sound run a few tanks of fuel with a good high-quailty fuel cleaner.

    Both of my vents are functional on my 987S. The drivers side is for air intake, and the passenger side is exhaust for cooling. The dirt on both is proof enough that they are functional!

    I have a question- did you adhere to the proper break-in period? In other words, did you keep the RPM's below 4,200 for the first 2,000 miles? Sounds like you are driving it pretty hard during the break-in. This is probably not the issue for your current problem, but could be in the future. Also, if you have been bouncing off the rev-limiter, Porsche could void certain warranty repairs. Never let the dealer wash your car!

    When you push the dash lock button, does the red light illuminate? FYI- you can have the dealer program your doors to lock automatically...based on either speed (<5 mph) or when the key is put into the ignition.

    mfried, you should invest your money in learning to really "drive" your new car! There is a lot more unharnessed potential in your car then you are actually using. Join the PCA and then join your local region. Then enter some of the autocross and DE events...and then you'll learn to "release the beast" in your 987. Good luck!

    This is not a Porsche approved method of long-term storage due to the issues with the suspension being "unloaded" and therfore exposing certain parts of the suspension to the "elements".

    speed123, I have a few questions: 1) What type of tires do you have? 2) How much are the cradles? 3) Why didn't you over-inflate the tires to 58 psi like the owner's manual requires for long-term storage? THANKS!
