  1. Lloyd, you should also shoot an e-mail over to your conversion top manufacturer and ask them that question too. Possible they will offer some type of warranty or rebate towards a new purchase.
  2. The answer will be in your Owners Manual. I think for the 987 Boxster, I remember reading something about temps below 35-40 degrees F it was not advisable to lower the top. I need to re-read this section to make sure.
  3. Airharvey, I also think it is a warranty issue too. Read your warranty info. For the 987 it states in my book on pages 10 and 11: "YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR NORMAL VEHICLE USE". It states in here that you need to drive the car at least 6,000 miles per rolling 12 months. If not, they highly recommend using a battery maintainer.
  4. I use the Porsche Batter Maintainer for both winter storage (5+ months) and whenever the Boxster is not going to be driven for 3-4 days. Works great, and very easy to use.
  5. Why does Porsche pick 4,200 RPM's for brake-in? Does this have anything to do with the VarioCam??
  6. Emguy, you should also follow proper engine brake-in too, since the car is new. Takes about 2,200 mils.
  7. Congrats on the new car! I always keep the RPM's below 4,000 until the engine has come up to operating temp.
  8. You lost me... why isn't it? :huh: Well, didn't they technically stop making "911's" in 1989? You can see that Porsche still refers to it as a 911 on their own web site, in the "history" section and in the "Car Configurator".
  9. 1) Fill the tank (very full) 2) Use a fuel stabilizer 3) Over inflate the tires to 58-60 PSI 4) Use desicators in the interior 5) Park on a plastic tarp 6) Don't use parking brake, use a wheel block 7) Battery maintainer 8) Cover 9) Wash & Wax 10) Remove any food from the car 11) Top up washer fluid 12) Change oil 13) lock & alarm 14) Turn off insurance (most of it) 15) Don't run the car till Spring 16) Prior to starting in the Spring, put in gear, 5th or 6th, and push the car several feet to turn engine over, and coat the cylinder wall with oil
  10. I use Red Line 5W40. Full synthetic. Love it. Great oil. Expensive- $9/qrt. Car sat for 5.5 months during winter storage. At first start-up, car sounded like it had been pre-warmed. I drive it about once a week, 350-450 miles in that one day, all at once!
  11. Just like people who don't know we have parking lights for the left-side and right-side of our cars, depending on which side of the street we park on.
  12. I would nver buy a black car again! My Dad told me years ago, "Everyone ownes ONE balck car in thier life". He was right. I like spending my weekends driving my Carrara White Porsche...vs cleaning & waxing a black one.
  13. You only have one rear fog light. On RHD cars the rear log light is on the right side. For LHD, is the left side. Porsche has a socket on each side to accomodate both LHD and RHD markets. The light helps drives behind you see the proper place to pass. If you had 2 rear fog lights, they could be mistaken as brake lights.
  14. Looks great, except the black wheels. It would look better with the Carrera Classics IMHO.
  15. The "N" rated Potenza for the 997 is the 305/30R-19 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. Don't put cheap tires on your Porsche. A great tire in your current size (295/30R) would be the Michelin PS'2. Great tire, not cheap. You might get about 20,000 miles on the rear tires with a lot of highway driving. 12-15,000 miles is more common though.
  16. Last year, I had the oil changed on my brand new 987S just after the first 1,000 miles. I view this as cheap insurance and good piece-of-mind. Now I change it every year just before winter storage.
  17. Mobil One 0W40 is the proper fill. If you buy tires outside of Greece, won't you be hit with a potential duty upon re-entry?
  18. I would also make sure you re-torque to the proper setting.
