I think every mechanic (or serious DIY'er) knows about the screwdriver-through-the-filter method! It can be a little messy though, and some cars it simply doesn't work (e.g. the Nissan Primera 2.0eGT - a British-model Nissan - is extremely tight quarters around the oil filter so it's impossible to get a screwdriver through it).

Having the correct tool is always the fastest, cleanest and correct method though ;)

Autozone sells it for $5. It is a metal Oil Filler "B" Cap Wrench made by OEM Industrial - Model Number 25401 - Autozone Part Number #153158. It driven by a 3/8" standard square socket drive.Hope this helps!

Are you sure you have the stock cap? I just bought it based on this post and it doesn't even come close to fitting. I checked and I have the stock housing. The "A" cap wrench is 74mm, but has 30 flutes. I can't use one of the plastic ones because the dealer over tightened and it doesn't want to budge...
