P/N PSE for 2004 986 Boxster S

Recommended Posts

Could someone please verify that the correct part number for a PSE Kit (with the button on the dashboard) for a ROW 2004 986 Boxster S is 000.044.200.20?

I tried to check with my local Porsche Dealer, and was told that there is no sport exhaust for post 2003 986 S, and the part number that i gave him (the one i mention in this post) is a sport exhaust but it is not stated for which car-model, has no picture on the system and has never been imported to Greece. So he told me to double check the part-number and then order it.

Thanks in advance.

Nikos.

The kit i am looking for is the one shown in the following picture. Toolpants, do you know if that is the one with the part number that i mention?

I am not interested in the pre-2002 PSE with the wierd tail-pipes.

The part number for 2003-2004 kit is listed in the TSB section of this board and as a contributing member you can look at the TSB yourself. It is the same part number for the kit you and I have.

I think Loren also has the TSB for the original "weird looking" 1997-2002 version listed. You are not the only one to say the original version is weird looking. I remember when original version first came out about 6 years ago. It was sort of weird looking but I guess I got use to it over the years.

Hello again, i got the PSE and have already installed all the electronics and most of the plumping. I am planing to install the box tomorrow morning. The whole process is not that difficult, especially if you have done it in a 996 before. I spent last week installing the whole unit on my late 02 996 C4 and i love it!!! Worth every penny!!! I am now installing the PSE on a friends 04 986 S. I will post pictures of the back box & try to make some sound clips before & after on & off PSE!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the perfect information on installing the PSE!!! Keep up the good work!

I wonder if this 2004 PSE kit will fit my 2002 986 Boxster S. Does anyone knows? Thanks.

So... what is the part number that you used to order the right muffler for your car? (Not the one with exposed pipes or 000.044.200.20). Thanks.

The part number for the 2003-2004 kit is 000 044 200 20. Per the TSB the muffler only is 996 111 987 01.

There are 2 part numbers for the originl sport exhust - the weird looking one.

For use on a 1997-199 2.5 000 044 200 09. The kit for a 2.5 includes a mounting adapter. For use on a 2000-2002 000 2.7/3.2 000 044 200 12- no mounting adapter is included as it is not needed on a 2.7/3.2. Per the TSB the muffler only for both is 996 111 987 00.

Do you know if it is possible to buy just the mounting adapter, so that a 03+ PSE can be used on a 99 986 2.5? And does the kit (000 044 200 20) include the tail pipes?

The 2003-2004 kit does not include a tip. The tip bolts on and there are 3 different styles you can buy.

You can buy the adapter for use on a 1997-1999. I bought one for my 1997. It has 3 parts plus a bag of 6 bolts. 3 long bolts and 3 short bolts, depending on if you have a manual or a tiptronic transmission.

Here are more pictures from a UK guy mounting the adapter on a 2.5. http://jp.tripout.co.uk/photos/stuff/s_exhaust/zorst.htm
