996 GT3 Air Filter

I have a 2004 GT3 which I use as an everyday driver. The car is stock with no modifications. I still smile each and every time I get behind the wheel.

The car has 10,250 miles on the clock. I had the air filter changed yesterday at the same time as some warranty work was done on the wiper control. I would normally have done this work myself but as it was in the shop, I let them do the switch.

The car now sounds different and feels as if the usual superb response is not there. I have checked that the dealer used the correct replacement filter.

Any ideas?

You may have had a free flowing element such as a K&N. These on some cars will increase the intake noise and add noticeable seat of the pants performance. Changing back to stock would take this away. If this was the case, your dealer should have cleaned and recharged the lifetime K&N rather than replaced it.

My TT is currently in the dealer due to KN filter. the oil from KN filter (i put too much oil on it) went into the Mass air meter which created a super rich condition and of course rich condition = to less hps. i had delaer put back the stock instead of the KN ones however, this is just my experience.

Sean,

Thanks for the input.

I solved this problem some time back by carefully cleaning the MAF and the car has been perfect ever since.
