Heated seat conversion

I have searched for this particular answer but can not find it.

I have heated seats currently, and am going to put in GT3 seats. So my wiring is stock and in place.

Question is I can I take the heater elements out of my current seat/back cushions and install them into the GT3 seats. Obviously the harness would swith over but I don't know how the elements are installed in the stock seats. Can I remove them from the stock cushions or are they built in somehow as one unit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would say no...and I would ask why? The reason for the GT3 seats...lighter weight and better fit, why would you want to screw with them? You can certainly change out the back and bottom cushions as they are held in by velcro.

I would say no...and I would ask why? The reason for the GT3 seats...lighter weight and better fit, why would you want to screw with them? You can certainly change out the back and bottom cushions as they are held in by velcro.

Do not want to change the cushions or the fit of the GT3 seats, just want to try and heat them if I can. Was hoping they are heater strips in the stock seats like I have seen on other aftermarket seats. Also now wondering if all the power seats wires are running through the same heater harness which would make this hard to do. The heated strips will not add any major weight to the GT3 seats.

I don't think that would be the direction to go, lthey are embedded in the foam and I don't know how yolu would get them out, or more importantly get them into the other cushions. I will check to see if new cushions are available. I know the stock seat cushions with heat were only a few hundred dollars.

Another alternative would be to add aftermarket heaters, I know one member did this. However, I don't think they would work with the OEM switches, wiring and relays.

The pictures are gone, if you are interested, I can hook you up. The basic gist of it is:

The elements are not embedded in the foam. The heating element for the lower seat is sold as a stick on. It has to be cut in half for the two lower GT3 seat cushions. This is not hard. The upper element is sold attached to the seat cushion. It can be liberated with a hair dryer.

A friend of mine wanted to add seat heating to his 1998 Lexus LS400 to save his marriage. His previous LS had heating but he traded up....

I purchased at least three heated cushion sets off of Ebay before coming to the conclusion that the heating elements could not be removed from the cushions without damaging them. So I purchased add-in heating elements off of Ebay, installed them in the existing cushions, and saved his marriage.
