987 Series

Recommended Posts

I've been under the impression that 2005 was the first model year for the 987 series .. yet I see posts referring to earlier years with the 987 designation ... can anyone enlighten me ?? Thanks.

I was talking to a Porsche salesman recently who said that special 987 launch editions were introduced late 04 which were highly spec'd and all in arctic silver.

Thanks for the responses .. Mine is an '05 987 S ... saw a post that referred to an '04 987 ... sounds like your salesman was right .. although, even if released in '04, I would have thought they would have titled as an '05

Yes they are called 987 models and designated 2005 model year , though actually manufactured in 2004. Thats what I have.

Berty is from the UK and despite being on the UK Boxster boards for years they do things I still do not fully understand.

They use their registration year to id the car. So if you have a model year 2005 987 and register it in December 2004, then they sometimes call it a 2004 987. In the US we would call it a 2005 no matter when it was registered.
