Help buying a 996tt

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm new to the board, been lurking for a while now, i'm looking at picking up a 996tt and had a couple questions that i hope you could help me with:

-what should i look for?

I've driven the car, checked boost through the gears, indicator was showing 0.9 in 3rd, and i wasnt full throttle

-it is listed as 2001 996tt, when i went to see it noticed it had a turbo s badge... but i didnt think that was available in 2001...?

the VIN on the car is WPOZZZ99Z1S680415 i was hoping someone could help checking it out

otherwise the car is clean inside and out, blue with tan leather interior and carbon accents that look aftermarket. mileage is 51k KM's was driving it in 40C dubai heat in traffic and the temp guage was staying around 100C

Anything else to look for?? i'd appreciate any advice or points to check out, this is my 3rd Porsche, had a 944 and 944 Turbo previously

You are correct there was no Turbo S in 2001. The Turbo S did not come to market until late 2004.

From the press release:

ATLANTA, GA, May 20, 2004 – Porsche today announced it is extending its 911 range to include the 911 Turbo S. The new model will be available as both a Coupe and a Cabriolet and will go on sale in August 2004. The Turbo S is based on the 2004 911 Turbo and will join the all-new 911 Carrera and Carrera S in the 2005 model year line-up. Just last week Porsche released the first details and photos of the new-generation 911 models.

As with any car get a CarFax, PPI, and a warranty if possible.
