Workshop campaign 737

Recommended Posts

I took my 997s into the shop today for among other things, issues with hesitation, particularly when the engine is cold. I had heard that a DME flash to the latest software might fix this, and asked they guys in service about that. They of course said "oh, no that wouldn't do it". When I picked up the car, the invoice said that they couldn't duplicate the problem (the car was running fine this morning), but that they had applied "campaign 737 -- flash DME" or something like that. I asked, and they said "oh, we updated the DME software. Can anyone confirm what that update is? Just curious.

Dealers on Porsche's dealer network get these notifications almost immediately (or over-night). Dealers not on the network and 3rd party shops get notification on a CD that is usually published every month (or two or three in some cases).

Our subscription is for the CD version and an update is overdue...

Thanks Loren. I'll look forward to hearing what it is & if it is in any way related to the hesitation issue.

Experienced the hesitation problem on my 2006 Carrera S this weekend. Wondering if there is any more information on Campaign 737?

Hmmmm.......I just had W737 performed. Bought my '06 C2 used in April. CarFax told me that the procedure had not been done. I called a dealer in CA and they said it had something to do with engine management, did not affect car's performance and not urgent. I waited until I needed oil service and took the car to the nearest dealer here in OR, 180 miles from my home. They told me the update had to do with controlling an engine cooling fan that ran too long on some cars. Not sure if that comes under the heading of "engine management" or if one or the other was misinformed.

When they did the download it somehow destroyed the DME. Tech said he had heard of that happening but had never personally experienced the problem. They gave me a free loaner as they did not have a new DME in stock. I had the pleasure of an additonal 360 mile round trip.

Can someone tell me what letters "DME" represent? I understand it is the "main computer". I guess a new one would have the latest software!
