3.6L conversion for 02' Boxster

Recommended Posts

I'm considering putting a 3.6L engine from a 2002 C2 into a base 2002 Boxster.

Can someone tell me if this is a simple swap and help with the questions below:

1) Do I need a new DME or can I use the same one I have.

2) Do I need to modify the headers? If I do, can I use the headers from the C2 instead?

3) Do I need to modify the engine mount?

4) Do I need to do anything with the E-gas? Does the 02' Boxster have e-gas?

Thanks in advance.

His car isn't an egas car. It started life as a 98 2.5l. I've read though that thread and the attached PDF and can't figure out the compatibility of egas 2000-2004 Boxsters with doing a conversion and what engine/DME combo would be easiest for an egas car. Thank you for looking though, I thought maybe I had missed something.

As Loren states all the information is there if you look for it. The 3.6 swap into a 2002 car is very simple.

1) no you have a 7.8 DME you just reprogram it

2) you can't use the 996 headers

3) yes, all 996 engines need to be lowered regardless of displacement

4) you have egas
