how to check if TPMS came with car?

bought my '04 Cayenne S used, previous owner upgraded wheels to 19", it doesn't have the sensor on the wheel.

When I look up in the dashboard infomation window, there is a selection under "Unit" -> "Tyre Pressure" where I can choose bar or psi. other then that, no other TPMS menu as shown in the user's manual.

So does that means TPMS option is available in my car? all I need is purchse new sensor and install on the rims?

If the sensors where missing wouldn't it show it the computer display? The option for tire pressure unit is there whether you have tpms or not at least that is the case with my 04 turbo.

I'm certainly not an expert in TPMS, but my Lexus has metal valve stems v.s. rubber. My tire guy says thats how he can tell the difference. Would Porsche's

be any different? Worth a look.

Can't you simply scroll through the dash display on the wiper stalk and see if pressures come up? Or look under settings to see if it has been disabled? That would be the easiest way... other then seeing if it has metal valve stems :)

When I scroll through the dash display, there is no tire pressure info. but under "setting" "Unit" "Tyre Pressure" there's option let me choose either "PSI" or "bar". I assumed this car came with TPMS, but the sensors were missing?

The question is, for those Cayenne WITHOUT TPMS, can you see Tyre Pressure unit selection in the dash display?

(I changed new tires recently, none of the sensors were installed on the rims, I am not sure if the previous owner bought TPMS option)

Just look to see if there's a fuse for the TPMS. If there's no fuse or metal prongs to hold a fuse...you don't have it. I have a pretty loaded 04 Turbo and mine doesn't have it. I was surprised. I did just add it . Check out my post from last week.
