Audio system wiring

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 986 which was not specced with the door and rear speakers. I am looking to retrofit door speakers and have seen the articles posted on this, however, does anyone know if the wiring loom installed will have the cabling already to enable door speakers to be fitted or will I have to install cabling?

If you car didn't come with door speakers then they definately aren't pre-wired.

Upgrading the whole system and using the stock wiring pins seems pointless.

I ran new cables into the doors (a real pain in the hoop) but believe that it was worthwhile. Only thing is that if the doors need to come off, the wiring needs to be taken out and redone.

I know its a pain in the hoop but any info on how you managed to run the wires to the doors? My amp is in the front trunk compartment and I have everything prewired wired up. My only problem is I don't know how to tackle running the wires to the door speakers.
