Cant remove cover for Pollen Filter replacement

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was gonna change my pollen filter this morning, and removed the battery cover, and then proceeded to take out the torx screw on the left side cover to get to the pollen cover. However, the screw just keeps turning and isn't coming out. I also tried the right side, and same thing. How do I get the screw out? I tried applying some back pressure underneath and that doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

???

Someone has overtightened it.

You will likely need to reach under from the battery side and hold the rubber enclosed nut to keep it from turning.

If it is badly damaged (nut pulled through) then you will need to replace the rubber enclosed nut. They were only a couple of dollars last time I checked.

Actually, after I had to "pull it through" It appears the bolt / nut assembly was pretty much stripped and/or rusted out. So I'm going to need to replace them for sure anyways. Any idea on what the part # is for the bolt and nut?

Thanks again Loren!

999.500.092.00 Nut -- US MSRP $2.94

There is also this link,

http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...mp;code=flagman

It's listed under special offers listed as, "Knurled thumb Screw Kit."

I too had the same problem. Had to pull them out with pliers and screwdriver. Then I saw the above link and just ordered those.

I believe 5 bucks goes towards Renntech, which is a good thing.
