Don't miss the October issue (#168) of Excellence Magazine, "Trojan Horse," pp.52-60, for the best review of the new Carreras I've seen so far. Not up on their website yet, so I guess you'll have to buy a copy.

I like the direct injection and that the engine has lost some weight. And the PDK seems neat. But i can't help thinking that Porsche has a responsibility to make more efficient cars. Just because someone can afford to put an unlimited supply of fuel in a car doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I think a 35mpg sports car is an immediate realistic goal that should be set. Even the old Triumph Sprite's gets 30mpg. And that was 30 years ago. If the designers are truely bright then they should see the enviroment and efficiency should be the goal. Not just to become the worlds most profitable sports car manufacturer.

Triumph Sprite ?

There was a Triumph Spitfire.

Or an Austin Healey Sprite.

Both would struggle to get to 100 mph except downhill, or 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 weeks.

I am pretty certain that Porsche could make a car of that "performance" that achieved 50 mpg.

But would anyone buy one?
