997TT Stock Rear Spoiler

Can anyone advise if there is a specification for the height of the upper wing when in the raised position. I have had multiple services performed trying to resolve operational problems with the rear spoiler. It now raises, however I do not believe it raises as high as it should. PS My apology for the typo in the Subject Title. But I don't see a means to correct it.

I don't know what the required max. height is but you should have a fault code if the spoiler don't reach the max. height IMHO.

I don't believe that is entirely correct, but will defer to others. I say that because when new, there was adequate space between the upper blade and the lower deck (plenty of clearance when washing the car). That space is now noticeably reduced. And there is no fault code issued during auto operation.

I believe the fault code that RFM is speaking about would need to be read with a Porsche PIWIS tester.

So, if you are concerned have your dealer hookup a PIWIS and run diagnostics on it.

Thanks Loren, I assumed he was referring to the fault indicator that beeps and comes up on the dash stating "spoiler fault".

I do plan to take it back to the dealer (5th time now in trying to resolve multiple occurrences with the hydraulics), but wanted to substantiate my position with a comparative dimension.

I was hoping someone out there with a 997TT might be able to provide a measurement w/pic.

The "word" according to my local dealer is that the raised height of the upper spoiler blade is different on Coupes than it is on Cabriolets. The Cabriolet upper blade raises substantially higher than does the Coupe upper blade.

Does that make sense to anyone out there?

Is there any info available (parts breakdowns w/ pns) that would enable me to compare the basic spoiler & its hydraulic components (rams, pump, upper blade, etc.) for MY08 997TT Coupe and Cabriolet?

If this is true, then perhaps my 08 Coupe came improperly fitted from the factory with Cabriolet components.

Thanks

Your dealer got it right, there is a difference in spoiler height between Turbo coupe and Turbo cabriolet (at least on ROW). Unfortunately i have no info, and i cant remember how much difference in mm. it really was.

Here you go.. with the two different part numbers :)

Thanks Brad.

Presumably the LH Ram (hinge) also differs btwn Coupe & Cabrio.

Did you happen to note whether the other functional part(s) pump differed?

Under the circumstances I guess I have no argument with the dealer despite the fact that before they replaced the rams it clearly raised higher than it does now.

I appreciate your time and the info provided.

is this a deliberately engineered difference? I was going to raise mine (coupe) for aesthetics but won't if it messes with aerodynamics/downforce

The difference in spoiler height is definitely a engineered item (wind flow), esthetic is not the first concern on high speed IMHO.
