987 Side Marker Lights

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I purchased my 1st Porsche about a month ago, a 2008 Boxster S. It seems you get the bug to accessorize real quick.

One of the updates I made was to change out the orange side marker lights to clear ones. On eBay I purchased a set of Porsche brand lights that were advertised as fitting the 997/987. Not knowing if there was a difference I ordered the parts and received 2 boxes marked p/n's 997-631-033-01 & 997-631-034-01. It took a couple of minutes to install and they snapped into place perfect, but they didn't look completely correct. The wheel lip area does not seem to be the same, the marker light looks to have a bit smaller wheel lip profile than the wheel lip itself.

What's weird is on the backside of the marker light is both p/n's (997-631-034-01 & 987-631-034-01) but I would think that the 987 p/n marker light must have a different profile? Or is the 997 and 987 the same light? This is a US car.

Maybe I need to stick to purchasing parts from a bonafide Porsche dealer.

OK I'm confused. I have an '05 987 and was thinking of buying these as well. Of the two part numbers on the back of the light one is marked for a 987. Do they not fit because you are putting them on an '08? Does my question make any sense?

The guy on eBay swears they are the correct ones. They will fit but the outside profile is just a bit different. If the listing on eBay says they fit a 997 & 987, he is only 1/2 right.

I went to my Porsche dealer and purchased the correct set... anybody need some like new 997 clear marker lights cheap?
