Water Leak Finally Found

Recommended Posts

:P Hi everyone, I thought I’d share my great news that I finally once and for all found and fixed my water leak! Basically I had a serious water leak that was causing my passenger side carpet to become soaking wet and if I left it a small pool would form behind the seat. At first I thought it was the drip tray that was torn somewhere so I gave it a good going over and covered any tears with silicone which did not help. Then I thought it could have been the convertible roof its self leaking so I bought water proofer treatment which did not help the leak but gave the roof a new lease of life (would recommend it). Next port of call was all the drainage holes which were all working fine. I then checked the drainage pipe that is located in the passenger side air duct at the rear wheel arch which had came loose but once again it did not help my leak, so it was back to the drainage holes, foam drip tray etc to no avail. So after leaving it for a while due to losing hope I attacked it again this time removing the passenger seat and carpet which started revealing the answers! The water was coming from a rubber pipe that is located in the passenger side sill below the door hinges which turned out to be connected to the electrical connector block that carries all the electrical cables from the cars main body to the door. This was hanging off letting the water get in and therefore carry on by the rubber drain pipe into the passenger foot well. You can't imagine how relieved I was in finally fixing this! Haha unbelievable! Anyway I hope this post helps anyone that has a similar problem!! If anyone would like pictures i'ii try source some. Cheers :P
