car sitting crooked?

Recommended Posts

hey everyone I have a 2001 996 turbo that is sitting lower on the whole drivers side than the passenger side? It doesn't look bend or twisted, the bottom of the car looks exactly what you would expect for a car with 19000 miles on it. Just looking at the rear of the car I can see its sitting higher. Has anyone else heard of this and is it something easy to adjust. I looked at the sway bar end links, perfect. I think it still has the factory struts i.e. not adjustable. But the rear has a white plastic looking toothed ring at the top, not sure if this is an adjustable coil over in the rear or not. I am not exactly sure what a set of ps9's or 10's even look like. But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Those look like factory suspension parts.

Is there a white compensating washer on both side of the same axle? If not then someone has changed things and left a part out.

The other possibility is a bad spring or a totally broken strut.

Best get it checked by a reliable alignment/suspension shop.

Where are you located?

i am located up in vancouver canada and yes the white plastic ring are on both the drivers and passangers sides rear shocks. Wouldn't a blown shock/strut be covered in leaked oil? And how would you know if a spring is shot, I didn't even know they could. Also my spoiler isn't moving at all and I get the light if I go to fast or hit the button on the dash. Have you ever heard of one just sticking down from lack off use? Because it doesn't move at all. Thanks Loren and hope you know a good shop up here.

There is a shop in North Vancouver called Scan Automotive. They were recommended to me by a friend and they seem to be ok.

If the shock is broken at the shaft or mounting point there may be no oil - unusual but possible.

  • 2 years later...

I have the same issue, LR is sagging to the point where the floor to fender measurements prove it out (RR 1/2" higher), including the RF higher that the LF. I will check shock mount but I have coils sag out before. Anyone hear what the cause of the intial posting was?
