Hi. On a 2000 C2, if I buy the OEM engine protection plate, I will no longer be able to jack up the rear from that rear jack point on the bottom of the engine?

I have the shop manuals for my C2 MY03 996... The only jackpoints that are mentioned are the 4 points by each tire. I have not been able to find any mention of the engine jack point (only saw it here in the DIY section). It specifically mentions to not jack at any other place on the vehicle. Anyone have any info on this??

well, technically, I think you're right. The only other safe place (IMO) in the rear to jack up the car is the rear crossmember. But none of my floor jacks reach that far, so I've been using the engine "jack point" in the rear. I don't like doing it, but I see no other choice.

Call me CRAZY... I found Sears had a sale on their floor jacks... so I bought 4. Works Great...

Just put one floorjack under each jack point.... If you cannot afford a commercial lift at home....

This system has worked well for me, The jack and crosspiece are available from Pelican Parts. AC brand is expensive but there may be cheaper copies around in the US. The ramps are made from chipboard and give just enough height to run the jack under far enough to reach the crossmember.

I think Pelican sell it as well, I saw them both on their website a few years ago but bought them in Australia. Not sure if they still carry them.
