Tubinng in battery compartment

Yesterday when I checked the battery compartment of my 00 C2 I saw a tubing with an rubber elbow at the end lay under the battery and does not connect to anything :unsure: .

I tracked the tubing and saw it comes from the left side (passenger side) of the car. Does any one know what is this tubing and should it be connected to something? BTW, the windshield fluid is working fine.

Sounds like it might be the vent tube for the battery. Does your battery have a tube connected near the top at one end?

Edit: "A" in the diagram, except they have a plastic elbow connection that goes into the battery.

No my battery does not have a vent port. It is a typical Kirkland automobile battery.

hmmm it needs to be vented. It should have come with a vent tube adapter....

I have been used the Kirkland batteries on my other cars and none of them have the vent tube. This battery vent tube is new to me.

Some cars have the vent tube and some don't.

In most cases if the battery is in an enclosed compartment like a trunk it must have a vent tube to let the sulfuric acid fumes escape to the outside of the car. Without the vent tube you have a great chance of corrosion and a chance of a gas explosion.

Be safe - use the vent tube on all Porsches.

But my battery does not have a vent port for the vent tube. Should I get a battery from Porsche or look for the one has the vent port?

If you purchased the proper Kirkland (Costco) battery for your car then it should have a vent tube opening - if that is the case go back and ask them for the tube connector.

If it is not a battery with a vent - then I encourage you to get one that has a vent tube.

The battery came with the car when I bought it last November. However, I will check the battery at Costco today and see if they have the tube connector or battery with vent port.

I just bought an Interstate Battery to replace the dead Moll battery. It appears the vent hole is in the back/middle of the new battery but it's an oval opening vs. the round opening of the tube that attached to the Moll. Do they make adaptors?? How do you connect the darn thing?

well I have an interstate as well...they (whomever you bought the interstate from) should provide you with the appropriate adapter...
