Hello. I have a 2008 Cayenne Turbo. When driving at low speeds, in traffic, with enough distance on the front that only the first-level green lights are on, every 30 minutes or so, the two red-end diodes light up only, for about 2 seconds, on the front indicators. 75% of the time, this happens when a motorcycle passes me, at low speeds, on the right. 25% of the time, it seems totally random.

This also happens when backing into my parking space at home (in this case, all four indicators do this).

I think there may be a bad sensor in the front? I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say that the parktronic shows no errors. I have Durametric, but it does not yet read park assist for 2008 MY.

How do I diagnose the problem, to not have to change out all sensors?

I cleaned them with water, in the front. Anything special to be used? Could it be that simple? Any way to diagnose which sensor, to know for sure?

If you have a front license plate frame, try taking that off and see if that solves the problem. When I finally got around to putting license plates on, I started having intermittent problems in front with the park assist sensors. The dealer took off their own frame and no problems since

No front license plate. Nothing on the front bumper at all.

Every time I wash the car I get intermittent problem. As I back out it's ok, but immediately sometimes, sometimes when front is being sensed, it goes red.

With durametric it says front inside sensor fail, signal ground or open - or something like that. In Summer, wash car, it fails and after a week, back to normal. Then it failed for long time.

I thought it was loose connection so pulled f bumper, wd40 the connectors, but no difference. I bought replacement sensor but have not got around to paint them.

Then (~2 months later) it's working again. Wash car, error. put vacuum on the suspect sensor to suck out moisture, working again. It's driving me crazy. I don't want to undergo 'remove bumper replace 1 sensor, reassemble - failure - remove bumper again...' routine. (2004 TT)

I recently bought a used 2009 Cayenne S. The dealer installed a paper promotional plate on the front with a plastic license plate frame with the dealer's information surrounding the paper plate. I was consistently getting all the bars in the front to light up and a loud tone whenever I slowed down to the speed where Park Assist activated. I was convinced that this was caused by dirty or defective sensors. However, I removed the plastic license plate frame from the front bumper and now Park Assist seems to work perfectly. I noticed that the bottom edge of the plastic license plate frame was sticking out an inch or two from the bumper due to the shape of the bumper and because the plastic frame was secured only by two screws at the top. For whatever reason, this was setting off Park Assist.
