2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S Tire Pressure Monitor not working?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Seems like I remember seeing the TPC system (in Bars or PSI's) on the dash when I bought my car a year ago or so. But I got a flat due to a pothole, bending the lip of the wheel and the TPC never came up on the dash!! Played around with the control stalk on the left side of the wheel to see if I could call up "TPC" and to my surprise, it seems to be missing from the menu (either that or I have nooo idea what I am doing). The only selections I see are "Limit, Oil, and settings" Is there something else that I need to do to turn on the system again (the battery was disconnected one time since I bought the car). HELP!!

Sounds like you will need a Porsche PIWIS tester to check the system out and re-program it if needed.

Thanks Loren! Ugggg, The dealer that I use and trust is some 230 miles away--so it looks like i will need to plan a trip soon. I may check and see if any of the local import shops has that PIWIS tester... I checked it again today and the selections go from "LIMITS" to "INFO" to "OIL" to "CHRONO" to "SET"--TPC used to be just after "CHRONO" I wonder if disconnecting the battery will make "TPC" reappear??

Its worth a shot! This actually was a problem on early Cayennes, the TPM would magically vanish from the instrument cluster menu and disconnecting the battery was the fix while Porsche could come out with an updated TPMS control unit.

I hve a 2006 C4S and can't find the TPM. Are all cars equipped or can I assume that mine may not have it.

Sorry, TPMS was an option.

Check your options list for I482 Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Thanks so much for the kind offer but I found the printout of all my options and it was not listed explaining why I can't find it. I do have the $4k hard top. Wish I could go back in time and swap the stupid thing for a top of options that I actually want.

Shoot me over your VIN number, that way I could check if your car came with RDK

If it did and now it doesn't work, the problem lies with the Instrument cluster coding. This happens. The PIWIS tester is needed for recoding properly.

I am a new member and may have the same problem (loss of tire pressure monitoring system in on-board computer list) May I send my Vin# to find out if I should have this option?

In MY06 TPMS was an option. It became standard on the MY07 cars. Few ordered it in MY06 for some reason. (I consider it mission essential information).
