Car Will Not Start....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I need your help again.

I am having issues starting the car. When I put the key in and turn it, the engine cranks but will not start. The first time this happened, the engine started, but then quickly died. I then tred again and it only cranks (engine will not fire).

The only way to get it to start was to step on the gas and turn the key. Then it would crank and fire up.

I am not getting any fault codes on the dash.

Any ideas?

I have a 1999 996 C4. I hit 100K miles last week!

Thanks.

You need to test the fuel pressure and volume. Your fault could have many causes and it's just guessing without test a few systems to narrow down the area at fault. Any maintenance done to the vehicle? Does the cranking RPM seem ok?

sure its not a battery issue?

This reminds me of 3 engineers riding in a car and the car dies.

The mechanical engineer says, "We must be out of gas."

The electrical engineer says, "We should check for spark."

The computer engineer says, "Let's get out of the car and get back in."

hi, if the battery was dying would it not even crank? I mean I have had a dying battery before and it never did this...

Also, I started the car just fine last night... it does not seem like its a consistent problem....

Any ideas????
