Sport Exhaust Baffle Closes

I have a 2004C4S, 6-speed with sport exhaust. The baffle seems to be closed in second gear until reaching about 4500rpm; then it opens. It is open in all other gears. The dashboard switch seems to function fine as the sport exhaust can be turned on or off. Is the a way to adjust the exhaust electronics so the baffle remains open all the time?

This is normal operation for the PSE to cut out at certain speeds. Look in the DIY articles - Mods section for a procedure to disable the cut out. It is called "Remove PSE cutout in 2 minutes". I did it to my car and it works great.

Or try this little gadget. Gives you full manual control over your PSE, stops it going quiet at certain rpm and lets you have the exhaust loud with the car in normal mode - perfect!

Go to http://www.carnewal.com

In the menu, select exhaust. Then scroll down to P97-1 and look for PSE Manual Control with Remote

Well I did the modification and it was a piece of cake...except that I needed a second pair of hands to get the cover off the relay. I'll run the car this weekend and let you know how it works.

If you want the PSE to stay loud (default) all the time, then just unplug the electrical connector to the vacuum switch in the engine compartment.

The connector is the brown one in this picture. Yours may be black instead. This method is better than removing vacuum lines which can introduce leaks into the intake system.

Well...the mod described in "Remove PSE cutout in 2 minutes" worked great. The car sounds awesome now...as it should through all gears....and the dashboard switch works fine. Thanks everyone for your help. This is an awesome site...with great members...Cheers!!!
