  1. I reused mine but I wish I bought new ones. real pain to get the old ones clean. I tried acetone, brake cleaner, and a Chem-dip tank.
  2. There is a known problem with the 997.1 fobs. Suncoast sells new buttons. Basically they take away some of the plastic on the button. You can do it yourself with a dremel tool. Just file down the button to just above the little mold dot on the side. Works great. I did it to mine and have not had my frunk openon accident again. I think someone did a write up on 6speed.
  3. Are you sure you have the input and output correct on the fiber optic cables?
  4. You might try the other wire in the phone harness for constant power. The phone harness has three wires. One was switched, constant, and brown was ground.
  5. Nice thing about going through a dealer would be funds will clear. No worries about bad checks. Also, most states you save on sales tax. You only pay sales tax on the diiference in price of the cars and not the total on the new car. This can be a few thousand dollar in some states.
  6. The upgrade from the 996 world to the 997 is very nice. I just went from a 996 40 edition to a 997tt. Worlds apart on fit and finish. The nice thing about the 996tt is the engine. It is ROCK SOLID. With the 997 you will always worry about the whole IMS bearing issue.
  7. If you install them with out any of the additional hardware then they are in the always ON position.
  8. Don't know if it works or not. It has not be released to the public yet. I would bet it is just a fancy/hacked remote bar-b-que grill thermometer. Every bearing the I have had go bad gets hot first. But I also believe IMS failures are a small number.Just my 2 cents.
  9. You wil have a button the the left side of the horse shoe with a picture of a exhaust tail pipe if it was factory installed.
  10. I doubt a glass claim is going to show up on carfax. Just use a glass shop or the dealership. Do NOT use a body shop and you should be just fine.
  11. Anyone having issue with thier XM units? I just bought a new to me 07 TT that has this installed. It does not work 100% of the time. Sometimes I get in the car, turn on the radio, switch to XM, and then I hear nothing or it will not switch stations. I have to turn the car off completely for it to start working again. I alway shut the radio off before turning the car off too. Thanks, Eric
  12. Yes, labor is the biggest part of the service. Plugs and filters are the most import parts to change out.
  13. Still loving the turbo? I am thinking about doing the same thing with my 40th 996.
  14. Well I miss heard that is was the heat exchange box. It was the AOS. Evidently the 996 has a water heater at the bottom of the AOS and mine cracked. What really sucks is that I had my clutch replaced 6 months ago and could have replaced it then for about a 1/3 of today a$$ reaming. Problem fixed and back on the road.
  15. And the pain continues. Now I have a leak in the heat exchange box area. Parts are cheap but the labor to get there wont be. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Had it towed to the dealer. So far they say the coolant tank purge valve is leaking. Need to fix that seal first to see if there is any other leaks. Fingers crossed that is it. I don't think it will be because the tank felt dry on all the areas I could check. I will keep you posted on what I find out.
  17. I have a coolant leak and I can't tell where is is coming from. It is on the drivers side on the car. Looks to be inbetween the engine and transmission area Here are two pics. Closer view. As always thank for the help. Could in be the coolant tank. From the top it does not look like that is leaking.
  18. Make sure you get the Group size 48. Auto Zone computer wants to put in a Group Size 49. The 49 will fit it is just a lot bigger.
  19. You card use a credit card or something similar to just tuck the cord up in there. Works great.
  20. Try using store bought CD and not a home burned CD. I know my PCM2 only likes CD that had all the CD data burned to it too. Using just windows to burn CDs the changer did not like them.
  21. If you do it. PLEASE PLEASE get him into a PCA driving class or classes. You can replace cars and parts. You can't replace your son.
