airbag light on

Recommended Posts

Left the key in the ignition for a couple of days of my 2001 bocxster. WHen I started the car today the airbag light was on. Read in another thread that key in the ignition can cause this. Can I fix it myself or do I need to have dealer/shop do it?

You cannot clear an airbag MIL without a PSTII/PIWIS or Durametric system; there are not other known ways to reset it................ Besides which you are really going to want to know what codes were thrown...............

Thanks, do you think the key left in the ignition triggered it? and if so, do you think just clearing the code would solve problem? Or did leaving the key possibly trigger other issues? The car was fine when i shut it off 2 days ago, I find it hard to believev a problem develpoed while it sat in garage.

When the key is in the ignition the airbag circuit is "armed". It is not good to leave the key in the ignition.

Chances are your airbag light is a bad seat belt buckle - but the fault code(s) will tell you for sure.

JFP,

Thanks for your info,

I'll run the codes.
