Aftermarket Battery in my just purchased '96 C4

Recommended Posts

All,

This is my first post on Renntech so be gentle. I've lurked here in the past but wasn't an owner until today (having owned BMWs and Audis, I knew I'd come here eventually). Today I bought a '96 C4 from an Infinity Dealer here in Denver CO (previously owned by a female doctor who couldn't stand how hard it was to get the new baby in and out of the rear seat installed baby seat). It's got 16k miles and is in beautiful shape.

The only (real) comment the independent shop that did my PPI made was that the brand new battery the Infinity dealer put in seemed to be the wrong rating. When I asked the Infinity dealer about it, they claimed they got it from Prestige Porsche here in town, and that it should be right. Just looking at it - it definitely looks after market to me. It's labelled as "Dynacell", "Exact-fit Battery", DY4891, CA 32 degF 875, and CCA 0 degF 700. Looking up a fit at BatteriesPlus.com it looks like maybe it really should be 740 CCA rated. The PPI mechanic is gone for the day, so I'm not sure what they had looked up. (I tried a search here, but I'll admit I haven't done any here before and might have missed the obvious.)

Please let me know ASAP if you think this isn't going to work as is - since the seller conceded that if they screwed up they'd replace the battery.

Thanks in advance!

welcomeani.gif and congratulations on your new acquisition!

Here is the ultimate battery thread: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php/topic/2950-battery/

The thread is both informative and entertaining, IMO.

Regards, Maurice.
