Door panel removal unclear info

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need to remove the door panel as have a crunching noise when electric window goes up, what ever it is, it's causing the window to stop about 3 inches from the top.

I have printed off the instructions and diagram to remove the panel. What is unclear, is how to get to the bowden cable, to disconect it.

Step 2, says remove the plastic Airbag cover and allen screw behind it. I have done this along with the light fitting. Am i now supposed to lever out the leather clad Airbag panel which is approx 12x4 inches in size? I tried a little but was worried about breaking it or plastic clips that might hold it in place.

Please help!

Thanks in advance

Neil

Check out this article on this site. I think it gets to your question. Good luck!

Hi,

Yes, this is where i got the instructions from. I printed them off, but step 3 says disconnect the bowden cable, not sure how to get to this part, as i explained earlier. Am i supposed to lever out the Airbag leather clad panel (approx size 12x4 inches), to get to the bowden cable?

cheers

Neil

Right,

I have managed to find another posting about this and like member "Poorsche", i believe steps 3 and 4 should be reversed. Do step 4 then move back and do step 3.

I am still having a problem though, I have now unclipped all around the edge but something is still holding the door panel in place around the plastic airbay sign. It's not the allen bolt behind this little plastic sign, as i have already removed this. I have given quite a hard tug but the panel doesn't seem to want to pull outwards at the bottom very far. Is it the plastic clips 13 and 14 that have to be replaced everytime the door panel is removed. In other words do i have to pull it so hard as to break these clips 13 and 14?

Did you ever get an answer.? I'm sure you have figured it out, as you can't have been without the car this long! I'd like to know, as well!.Thanks.

Yes thanks, found another posting somewhere else on this forum. Anyway it was just a good hard pull once you have released all the plastic clips around the edge of the door panel.

Was very simple once you know what your doing, changed the whole window mechanism, as the steel cable was frayed and jammed. Used genuine Porsche part, with a 15% discount it was only £14 more than the pattern part. (£120 ish total)

Cheers
