Muffler Fitment Information 3.6L -> 3.4L

Does anyone know if a 3.6L 996 muffler will fit a 99' 996 C2 3.4L?

Here's the part number info I have:

99611112157 <-3.4L

99611113169 <-3.6L

I'm pretty sure they will fit since I've sold aftermarket cats that I had on my 3.4L and were later installed on a '04 3.6L C4S, but not 100% certain.

You can put a 3.6 liter muffler on a 3.4 just fine using the exhaust tips from the 3.4 liter (the 3.6 liter tips may not line up properly with the openings in the rear bumper on a 3.4 liter car).

Porsche recommends that you never put a 3.4 liter muffler on a 3.6 liter engine.

FWIW when I needed to replace the cats on my 02 C4S which is a 3.6, I found a complete take off exhaust from a 3.4 that was removed when the car was new. I figured I might as well put the entire system on as it was basically brand new. When I took it out for a drive you could definitely feel the difference. The engine ran smooth but had a noticeable lack of power. I attribute this to the more restrictive exhaust passage in the 3.4 can. I put a new set of 3.6 cans on and it was back to normal.
