Crankcase Breather Line leaking

Recommended Posts

I took my MY03 Carrera Cab, (50k miles) in to the local dealer due to a leak behind my right rear tire (coming from the engine compartment). This is what they told me:

"Oil leak-crankcase breather line. It is a long accordion line that runs from under the intake to breather on the cylinder. Right now it is just leaking oil. Eventually it will become a vacuum leak that will cause other problems. It is hard to tell when that is going to occur,it could be 2 weeks or 2 months. You just don’t know . the cost to replace it is $995 +tax"

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Does it make sense? What about the cost? Does anyone know a good shop in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area they can recommend for a second opinion on this as well as other issues?

Thanks in advance.

The line is part of the AOS system, which is a common failure point on these cars. Solution is simple: replace the AOS before it totally craps out and causes even more problems........... As for the price they gave you, the parts are a fraction of that and this is a DIY project if you are so inclined to save some money........
