Hi

The computer having a function(office) "learning"("apprenticeship") of your conduct(driving), it adapts itself to you but sometimes he can lose a little pedals. It is also useful to reset after the draining of her(it) limps (the functioning being different with some new oil) here is the procedure to reset the computer .

1. put contacts (without starting the engine) .

2. Push the accelerator up to abutment during 10 second .

3. Pushed pedal ,cut the contact .

4. Release the pedal .

5. Put back contacts (without starting) during 5 Minutes (necessary for the "rehabilitation" of the accelerator, and for the grading of the potentiometer). Get (touch) nothing.

6. Start the engine without touching anything only brake .

7. Set off and observe the result .

Let's see if I can translate this:

The Cayenne engine controls (ECU) have an adaptation feature that adjusts it's parameters in response to your driving habits. Sometimes the adaptation can loose full opening of the intake throttle body due to a loss of synchronization between the electronic accelerator pedal and the ECU. It's also useful to reset the synchronization after draining/refilling of the transmission (the transmission functions differently with new oil).

Here is the procedure to reset the ECU adaptation:

1. Put the key in the ignition - do not start the engine.

2. Within 10 seconds of #1 - depress the accelerator pedal all the way to the stop

3. With pedal depressed, remove the key

4. Release the accelerator pedal

5. Put the key back in the ignition (without starting the engine) within 5 minutes of #4. This is necessary to recalibrate the accelerator and the pedal potentiometer. Touch nothing at all.

6. Start the engine without touching the accelerator pedal (only step on the brake to allow starting.)

7. Try driving and see what the result is.

For 2003 to 2006 (only) Cayenne adaptation:

"For the learning and adaptation routine of the throttle (E·gas), switch the ignition on for 30 seconds without starting the engine.Do not actuate accelerator pedal. This completes the adaptation of the throttle adjusting unit and the programming sequence is complete."

2008 and newer Cayennes with high-pressure fuel systems require a PIWIS or PIWIS2 to set the 5 adaption ranges.

Hi Loren,

I had a bad PVC/Diaphragm in my 2008 3.6L, so I had it replaced by a local (non-Porsche) mechanic. It was fairly straight-forward, except when it came time for the throttle adaptation to the eGas.

He couldn't get it to mate, and I tried resetting it. I got it running, albeit poorly, and brought it home.

 

Based on this comment:

1) Will the ranges be evident (is there a default that getsset, or do you need to know what they are)?

2) Does the Durametric set this as well?
