Need help with Map screen

Recommended Posts

My map screen only shows main roads like interstates. No side streets what so ever. Even when I adjust or zoom in close. Most everything else seems to work, I just can't imagine that there are no streets in this systems. 03, 3.0. S Model. TIA

ps I know I need to update but just wanted to see this one work.

I checked the system this morning and it's says 3.0 and 3.0 version still no locale roads and I'm in downtown atlanta. Well just north in Buckhead. The cds are dated 8/04 . I even tried to reset it with the 1,4,8 buttons. It did go back and re-start.

Yes, even at 0.5 mls no streets. There has to be more detail. Now do I need to put all the disc in and run them in order for it to add the streets? I have not installed all the disc since I replace the battery and restarted the system. There is also a train the trainer disc that doesn't seem to do anything. TIA

Yes I have the manual and the proper disc installed. I actually just went out to the car to see if installing the other west coast CD would help but nothing. Inserted old disc and waited a few minutes for it to reload and same. Any idea what the train the trainer cd is for? I have read and will read more of the instruction but got stuck when it didn't show the same as the book. even when I put in add an address it would only let me load the city no street number or names, weird.

It sounds like your nav disc are out of date that is why you can't load the street or find the detailed info. I have PCM 2.1 DVD in my cayenne and don't think it's cost effective to update and use a TomTom device instead.

Thank guys, maybe take some pictures and show what I see on the screen. It also starts by saying error unknown not known or something like that.Maybe I can find someone local and try their cd for a minute and see if that clears it up. I really don't need it but it would be nice if it worked.

  • 1 year later...

Just wondering if this issue was ever resolved as I am also needing the 7-cd set to see what the trouble might be with my NAV. Does anyone have the new cd set and willing to please mail it to me here in Texas?

Ok, I'm new here and also 30 days into my first '04 CTT. And I see alot of responses to said subjuct, but can anyone suggest where to get the updated disc's and a general idea what the cost maybe for this cd based system. I ask because I was told that Navtech and Porsche had a major falling out. And like the orginator of this post, I too would like to see the street I live on show up on my nav screen, lol. Thanks.

Check with Ignited above and see if he found a solution. I don't even know if Porsche sells the last of the CD based discs any more, last updated in 2005 I think. Which begs to ask, if Porsche does not support a product anymore, is it still copyrighted? Any Attorney's here that can answer that question? I have the PCM2.1 which was last updated a couple of years (at least 3+ year old data) ago but I am also wondering if that was our last update, no word from Porsche yet?

Let me me the first to welcome you to our little corner of the www, TWalk! You may have read that I also have an '04 CTT and I enjoy driving and maintaining it very much. I have not yet received any feedback about the NAV system. I was hoping to be able to test it to be sure all it needed was the CD set. When I bought my car it had the manuals but no discs, and the NAV has never worked for me, apparently because you have to insert the map CD of your area to use the NAV.

If you get any new info about this please post to us so we can figure this out.
