Noise from cab top

Hi,

I have the noise from the soft top on by 2004 C2 Cab. I've got the TSB and have a quick question - the TSB talks about applying grease on a rubber spacer as show below, however this actually looks like a cast piece of metal, not rubber... Do I have the right piece? It actualy looks like it's got some residual grease on it so it looks right.

Also, the krytox grease appeas to be $70 (???) a tube - it threre a non-porsche equivalent someone could recommend?

The best stuff for lubricating the noisy rubber bits on the top used to be a now discontinued BMW product named “Gummi-Pflege”, which is really just a type of thin silicone grease. You can probably do just as well with spray silicone and rub it in.

Any comments on the other part of the question, i.e. the arrow on the diagram and if I've located the right thing to grease as per the TSB???

I don't think the piece in the diagram is the metal piece you are seeing, sorry I can be of more help - I am a bit aggressive with lubrication when I hear a squeak and hit every joint/hinge and piece of rubber that i can find. Hope this helps.

Mine is definitely a black rubber block. It has signs of wear on it and was dry. The driver's side started to squeak loudly, at first when it was cold out ~40f, then most of the time. A little silicone grease stopped it.

I use Krytox but I was wondering if anyone here uses Boeshield or Lithium spray to lubricate.
