PCM1 is it MOST with fiber optic?

Recommended Posts

I have the PCM1 with Navigation on a 2002 Boxster S (European) and not sure whether its a fiber optic MOST version. Can I tell from the PCM code card? It shows as serial number SI 0815 1 0007771?

I would like to replace it with an AVIC system and was wondering whether the following will work:

1. The CD changer

2. The factory amplifier

3. The NAVi antenna (factory)

I know it has been discussed several times but I am puzzled with the responses.

Yes - it is definitely non-MOST.

The CD changer won't work, unless you find an aftermarket head unit that is compatible with the Porsche CDC-3 (unlikely).

The amplifier will be OK, but you will need an adapter cable from somewhere like Halfords. (Depending on which amp you have).

The Nav antenna might work, but it is simple enough to replace the factory one with the one supplied with an aftermarket head unit. It can be located in the same place (under the cover in the centre of the dash).

Here is an older DIY for an installation of an AVIC in a non-MOST bus Boxster/Carrera.

Check for an installation kit sold by RennTech member Trieullionaire. Trieulilionaire and his brother have an e-Bay store that sells the kits. They are easily available for informational help as well.

I'm not connected with Trieulilionaire's operation. I'm a satisfied customer....twice over.
