Hi I have recently bought a 2005 Boxster with PCM (not sure if 2.0 or 2.1) and Bose speakers. However it doesn't have the DVD navigation unit or a CD changer. The problem is every time I turn the car on an error comes onto the screen "System error: Phone, Navigation System, CD Changer not available." I don't mind not having navigation but I am curious as to whether they were originally sold without the navigation unit? Also whether it is possible to stop the error message coming up at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, yes it definitely isn't there, the carpet is still in place where the mounting plate is! It doesn't have the phone module under the passenger seat either. I've recently been told the PCM can be reprogrammed so that it doesn't look for the modules at startup which should hopefully get rid of the error. Does this sound like the PCM has been retrofitted to you?

Guy (Skidd again) - have a look at your factory option codes, this may indicate if it isn't original.

As Richard says, I don't think you could have the PCM on the 987 without Nav. This was only available on the 997 as i recall.

Hi again Skidd! I did look them up online and if I remember right one of the codes was 'digital sound' or something like it. I guessed that was probably the Bose. I'll go over the codes again this evening and see if there were any others.

Thanks again!

Hi Richard, thankyou for the offer it is very much appreciated. I've actually already booked it in with CMS Porsche in Telford on Friday (I live near Stafford). I must say the excellent forum support, easily available parts diagrams and TSB's are making Porsche ownership surprisingly practical!
