Boxter Soft Top Issues

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm new here so if I'm posting this in the wrong location sorry.

I've got a 2001 Porsche Boxter and my soft top is having some issues I hope you can help me with. First off Yesterday I opened the top for the first time this season. There was a loud pop noise when it was folding down into it's compartment. It then closed just fine but now I have two issues:

1) My dash light is indicating that the top is not clones all the way (even though it is)

2) the top will not open or close or do anything at all. When I push the open or close buttons nothing happens.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Do a search, this is a common failure that occurred on early 986's.  You have probably snapped the plastic ball bits on the top mechanism and need to replace them.  Been written up multiple times.

Yes, you most likely popped a plastic ball on one of your push rods (or both).  You'll need to manually open the top and check your push rods, ball cups, and possible transmission and transmission cables.

Hi

I had a problem in top and disassembled the gerbox that has the electric switch

I discovered that there is no problem with it . Now I have problems to adjust the gears to touch the switch in the right position . Does anyone went through the same problem, or have any instructions how to set the correct gears position?

Thanks
