Over the past 6 months I have now broken 3 convertible top transmission cables (i.e. motor-to-transmission p/n 986 561 717 03). This is after not breaking any of these cables for the first 19 years of the life of the car. I believe what is happening is that the motor is being allowed to run too far past the fully open and closed positions (seems most likely the top-closed position as the breaks have occurred 3 of 3 times when the top is closed or closing). After reading many of the posts about the microswitches that control the power to the convertible top motor, I believe this is likely my root cause. However, I am unclear which switches I need to check for my model year (2000). I understand that I have the later-version transmissions which have a switch inside the transmission case and I confirm that this is the model that I have. I thought this was the switch that controlled power to the motor and to turn off the dash light. But I am not sure if I also have the switch in the B pillar (986 613 767 01) and/or the switch in the roof (986 613 101 02), or if/how these switches control power to the convertible top motor.

Hey folks, I just bought a 2011 Cayenne S to replace my 2006. Wow what a difference! Anyways, the TPMS has 2 dead sensors. What replacements works? I can't seem to get a straight answer... looking for cost effective option. What have you actually bought and used that actually works? Model names, numbers etc... are appreciated
Does anyone know what these are? When we took the rear license plate holder off it was wired in with a black and white wire. The holder was blocking the button to open the rear hatch and also blocking the lights that are supposed to light up the tag. We then noticed there is another one like in on the front also. Don’t know if they were added on or if it came with them. Any help would be appreciated as we aren’t sure if we can just take them off. Especially the rear one. They both look the same. Rectangular with a small box and a long box. The one is the photo is the one on the rear license plate holder.
I have a 2001 TT. Sometimes when I am driving the drivers side window will go down 10mm like I was opening the door, the interior light comes on, and then in a bit the window goes back up. This can happen 10 times in 5 minutes or not at all for days. I suspect a micro switch in the door but I am not sure which one. I think there are 7 of them.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it (other than taking it to the dealership)? I would like to fix this myself if I can.
I read in one of the DYI columns that the micro switches are about $120 a pair from Porsche which, unless they are carbon fiber and gold is pretty dear for micro switches. Has anyone found another source for the micro switches?
So, in the process of getting ready for the summer at NE, I tried two months ago to open my convertible (C4-99). The convertible stuck at 2/3 and didn't go back. I got the car to my indie, stayed there for two weeks and got it back un-repaired. He told me that he tried everything, did recalibration and still, he couldn't fix it. I gone to the dealership too, paid $540 for diagnosis and they told me that they have to replace latch and/or module and since I'm loosing some oil from the cylinders, both cylinders. They quoted me $5400. I hugged them and left :)
Now, the last 2 weeks:
Durametric comes up with error 16 (unknown error - latest version of the software)
In the beginning, when I tried to calibrate with durametric, it was pulling the top back and then it was timing out but without any warning light on the dash. After this was done the only way to close the convertible was manual. This happened more than 10 times during my tries. Now, durametric doesn't do anything at all, I just get the 'working' icon and nothing happens.
I follow the workshop manual and I changed the following with no changes on behavior:
Still nothing. To add on this, when it stops I hear a 'click-click' sound from the back. The sound is from the module itself, but as I said, I replaced the module and nothing changed.
The clam shell opens and closes/locks fine. I don't get a warning light when I'm closing the convertible. I'm getting a warning light only when it stuck. All windows are going up and down.
The hydraulic oil is always full.
Any ideas or suggestions are strongly appreciated.
