Flood under drivers seat

I had a flood under the drivers seat a while back from blocked drains, I fixed the blockage took out the immobilizer under the seat sent it out for repairs dried out the interior reinstalled everything now my fob doesn't work, no lights when I open the doors, rear defogger doesn't work and the door lock in dash doesn't work also the flashing light on the dash doesn't work, trunk front and back only work when the key is in the on position, but the car starts. Do I have to get my immobilizer reprogrammed, or is there something else that I have to do. It's a 2003 Boxster S.

Under the driver's seat is an electronics box which is the heart of your car's immobilizer and security system, which has gotten wet and shorted out.  You need to remove it, dry it out, and get rid of any corrosion that may have occurred during the flood.  Do a search for the how to's, this is a very common problem on the Boxsters.

I did remove the immobilizer I even sent it out and got it repaired I lifted the carpet dried it out like I said for three weeks but if you read my post you will see that a lot of things don't work and I also read all the threads in here and other forum and I haven't read of one that had the same issue.

Have you check your fuses?  Often, then the immobilizer shorts, it takes some other circuits out with it.  I would also look the electrical section of the ignition switch; is a known weak point that can cause various things to stop working for no apparent reason.

I checked the fuses at A8 & C3 I put new ones in to make sure also I changed my ignition switch about a month or two ago. I did clean all the contacts on the wires before I plugged then in the board. I was wondering since they changed resistors and other things on the board do you think I have to get it reprogrammed by Porsche and could that be what is causing this issue. Thanks for your help it's appreciated.

If it needed to be reprogrammed, the car would not start, which is not your current problem.

Would you say to change the ignition switch them since the fuses are ok.

Is the battery (tested) good and have you checked the grounds?

Always the first two when you have strange electrical issues.

The battery is brand new as for the grounds no I did not check. Where would I start? Under the seat or check if there is a draw somewhere.

Update. As of last night power windows don't work. I cleaned and sanded the ground on the immobiliser and now the car won't start.

"...... car won't start" .... as in no electrical activity at all or, it cranks but won't fire?

 

If you have a spare key, have you tried that?

There is power as when I turn the key all the dash lights light up but when I press on the clutch it doesn't turn over. Now I can't even open the trunks. I only have one key but it was starting until yesterday afternoon.

Odd ..... if the immobiliser repair work fixed that aspect of the problem.

 

If you're not equipped to read the codes which have presumably been thrown up, you might just try to disconnect the battery for an hour or so and then see if reconnecting changes anything.

Last night I checked the battery with my friend who is a retired mechanic and he put a load of 350 amps on it and he sais there is no reason that the battery would not start the car. Then he checked the ground wire from the battery to the body and it was good. Then I removed the seat after disconnecting the battery removed the immobiliser checked all connections then we tested the ground at the immobiliser and it is good. Reinstalled the seat after connecting everything and the battery and the car started, but still no alarm and door locks.

The in dash door lock does not work. I can lock the driver side with the key but the passenger side does not lock at all. Also now the radio has no sound, turns on but no sound.

Took the car Saturday pressed on the lock switch in the dash then the doors locked and red light came on, but still no flashing light on top of dash. I can now lock both doors with key but no alarm.

I replaced the ignition switch a week and a half ago thinking that the problem might be related to the switch being defective but it didn't change anything. The alarm does not turn on the courtesy lights don't work I can only open the trunks when the key is in the on position the doors lock when the engine is running. Could it be that the immobilizer went into a sleep mode and I would have to take it to a Porsche Dealer to get it going again. I have a Durametric Pro but it seems to be limited to what it does.

Anybody know about this? Could the immobilizer be shot?
