These 2 errors won't go away...help please?

Hey guys


After I got rid of a few errors related to the MAF, DPF, Gateway and some related others (the previous garage that worked on it did not delete them after a MAF replace, maybe?), I am now stuck with these two - "fan control overcurrent" and "check parking brake fault memory" (see bottom of picture). They will not go away... any ideas?

Fan control overcurrent appears to be a very commonly reported fault - without a clear cause. It should indicate that the fan drew too much current making the electronic protection system for it stop it - but I've never heard of that actually happening. I get that error message almost every time I scan my '11 Turbo... and the fan works fine. From listening to the system, under certain conditions (more common when it's cold out) when on vehicle startup I can hear the fan start, then hear it bog down a bit and the airflow drop as some flaps reposition themselves in the HVAC box. Only takes a few seconds to happen - and that slowdown may be due to blocked airflow by the flaps that then clears up when they get to the desired position. The slowdown has the possibility to cause this sort of error message IMHO.

Thanks for the input regarding the "fan control overcurrent" error. Guess I'll just ignore it :)

The other one I think appeared after I changed brake pads front and rear and also the rear rotors. Parking brake is in good working condition as far as I can tell...I can hear it engage and disengage, and it holds the car well on a hill while in Neutral.

Could it be that some reset / realignment procedure was not performed after changing the rear rotors? (parking brake unit had to be removed from the discs in order to change them)

For the parking brake you can use the iCarScan to read the actual values to see if they are in the correct range. If they are out of spec then you can perform a calibration process using the iCarScan as I did on my 2011 CS a while back.
