clunking noise at the back

Recommended Posts

Have you guys experienced any "clunking" type of noise around the engine area when you step on the gas pedal? Somtimes when stepping on the gas pedal from a stop, the car will not respond immediately and the car will jerk a little and create a "clunking" noise. It feels like something was dropped underneath the car.

Dear Loren,

Thanks for your suggestion. I have taken the car to the dealer and the mechanic told me that the rear sway bar are tight. Also, the U or CV joints and the engine and transmission mounts are ok. What esle could it be that cause of this noise?

A while back someone reported a loose panel inside the trunk under the carpeting. I think they said it was obvious once they looked under the carpet. Sorry for the lack of details but it's easy to check.
