996 #3 fuel injector

Recommended Posts

Rebuilt a 2001 Carrera 3.4. Cracked #2 cylinder sleeve Sent case off to L&M Eng.  came back in great shape and they bumped it to a 3.8.  Build went great...motor back in car...runs great...tuns of torque.  BUT noticed I was leaking gas.   Took awhile but found that the #3 injector appears to be leaking.   Is there an easy way to get to it without dropping the engine? Or having to remove the intake manifold?  Thought I'd ask the experts!!

While I have heard of people changing out injectors without dropping the engine, it always ends up becoming a "build a ship in a bottle" exercise that takes up about three times as much time and labor. Once it is out in the open, if you do not have to remove the rail to get at it, you should be golden.

Thanks JP.   I'll leave an update when done.  Could you see the pictures I tried to include?  If so I will leave some more that should be of interest for the engine rebuild.  Thx.   Bob
