Boxster Roof Transport System

Anyone installed this on a '97? The PET suggests that additional parts are required. TSB 6692 refers. Anyone had this done on their car? Which bits seperate from the RTS system were required (the PET is a bit vague). Thanks.

I think all you need is the RTS (986 801 055 01 - updated part number) and one of carriers:

Ski Holder (996 801 091 00)

Bicycle Holder (000 044 000 48) (updated part number)

Surfboard Holder (996 801 019 00)

You have the same publications I do and I have not looked at them recently to figure out what exactly has changed over the years.

So take this with a grain of salt.

The 1997 hardtop had "ears" on each side to mount the original version of the RTS. You pulled off the painted plastic ears for the mounting points underneath.

For 1998 the RTS design changed and it was no longer necessary to use the ears to mount the RTS. So the ears on the hardtop were eliminated around 1998.
